This will be our first Toyota (getting a white Limited). We were seriously considering a 2016 Colorado, but the lifetime warranty that the Toyota dealership offered sealed the deal. Is this common for Toyota?

Lifetime Warranty - Unlimited Time, Unlimited Miles

We are devoted to safety and dependability, and proper vehicle maintenance is important to both. That's why we include a Lifetime Warranty with the purchase or lease of every new Toyota.

    Lifetime Warranty Frequently Asked Questions
Which vehicles come with the Lifetime Warranty?
The Warranty applies to all new vehicles. It also applies to select pre-owned vehicles that are 5 model years old or newer with less than 50,000 miles, have passed our Lifetime Warranty certification program and a CarFax or similar inspection.

How long is the Lifetime Warranty really good for?
The Lifetime Warranty is valid for as long as you own the vehicles - for an unlimited time, unlimited miles.

    How much will it cost?
Zero. We're trying to build "Customers for Life" so the Lifetime Warranty comes standard with every qualifying vehicles meeting the criteria above and is included at no extra charge.

Is there any extra maintenance required to maintain the warranty?
No. You must simply follow the Manufacturer's Recommended Maintenance as referred to in the owner's manual.

Do I have to have all of my service completed at your dealership?
No. Our Award Winning Service Department will certainly exceed your expectations but you are not required to come here. To maintain the Warranty, you must perform the Manufacturer's Recommended Maintenance and keep your records. It's that easy!

Where am I covered by the Lifetime Warranty?
The Lifetime Warranty stays with the owner as long as they own the vehicles.

    What's the catch?
There are no catches, hidden fees, or gimmicks. Our dealership provides this product as an added value to our customers for doing business with us. The only 'catch"? You have to buy your vehicle at Toyota Knoxville!

The lifetime warranty is a scam. They are an insurance company. They will deny your claim the first few times you put it in. So the car sits at the shop. Only after a few tries will they even look into your claim to see if it is valid. If/when they decide to research your claim, they see that you did not meet the 15k-30k-45k Toyota recommended service to change the oil, rotate the tires, check all the fluids, and replace the tranny fluid and they will deny your claim and cancel your lifetime warranty.

It's a scam. They make money by finding ways to deny all of your claims.

    Actually, that depends.

I had 4 incidents that covered the cost of my "extended insurance" on my current vehicle.

Some companies are better than others. I just happened to have a sale person (out of area purchase trucked to me) that was super honest.

Some of them that you pay for are alright. Any that come free with the purchase of any vehicle on a lot are scams

Beechmont Toyota here in Cincy has it. They call it 'Lifecare Plus'. It is free with any new purchase of a Toyota. Quite a Sales Gimmick because very few people keep their vehicles past 5 years. It's a no brainier for the Dealers who offer it. The catch is you have to do all your Service at that Dealership. There are others who offer it with different requirements. It sounds good!

Most of them just want a certified mechanic to perform the service. Check the paperwork to see if it actually says THEY have to do the work. I doubt it and I bet they are defrauding you by saying so. Just mention the word fraud and see what they say

Everything I've read about the lifetime stuff just says a certified mechanic.

If the truck will cost the same and one comes with the lifetime warranty and the normal. Why not go with the lifetime? :notsure:
