I recently installed the TRD supercharger and the AFe intake and now my AC is not working. It was weak before the S/C install, and now no cold air at all. It is blowing air well, just not getting cold. I have scheduled to take my truck into the dealer for diagnosis, just wondering if they are going to blame it on the Intake. Also, truck is a 2013, with 36,400 miles on it. Is the AC under warranty, or did it just expire?? Advice??

    Why hide anything?

If you decide to mod something, be a man about it.

Not trying to hide anything, just don't want them saying it voids the warranty. Would this still be covered?

Removing an aftermarket part because you're afraid the dealer will see it and then reinstalling it after the appointment isn't trying to hide something?

Does the intake have anything to do with the A/C? If it doesn't you're good. A dealer can only deem a part not warrantable if the part you installed directly affects another part. For example, if you install longer front coil overs, and you're CV's start wearing, they can say it was because of your lift. But if you install a lift, and your tail lights stop working, they cant blame the lift.

Refer to the Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act

Ok, obviously it is. Any idea if the AC is covered, giving the year and mileage? Any ideas why it wouldn't be blowing cold? Or is your advice just to be a man about it??

Whats your bumper to bumper warranty? 3 yrs 36k is the usual. You're over on mileage, but they may give it to you based on age. Bring it in, don't bother removing the intake. How is your belt tension? Could just need a recharge for the compressor.

You should be fine under warranty. AC is completely unrelated to the modified intake.

It should be covered under the original 36 month/36,000 mile warranty.

*edit: Just noticed you were over. Try taking it in, the dealership might hook ya up.

I purchased the truck used, with 23k miles on it. So I'm not exactly sure what the warranty is. I assumed 3yr/36000 miles, but I'm not 100%. How can I check?

Belt tension is good, very tight.

Think I'll just leave the intake on. I know I will have to swap come smog(unless my guy ignores it)

Regardless weather the super charger and accessories caused ac to fail, vehicles will need maintenance. Even newer used vehicles. The ac system is a weak link no matter the brand. The ac system can be damaged quite easily. All it takes is a pin hole in the condenser and the ac will need service. Trucks aren't exactly know n to live in the most gentile environment.

I'm not judging, but if you have extra money for a a supercharger, you should be able to pay for ac service. I won't be without ac for very long.

I am aware that vehicles need maintenance, even newer ones. I am very good about the maintainence of my vehicles, using only the best oil, filters, etc. I am very suppried that the AC would go out on such a new vehicle. The AC on my 01 Tacoma was ice cold for 13 years straight prior to selling it.

As I said, ac is very prone to trauma. It us just the luck of the draw. More chances that the ac condensor has a holevthan any other part being bad. Condensors are cheap. Vfind the leak and repair.

If you are on this site, cthere is a good chance you want to learn and fix things yourself.

Sorry about the spelling, new phone and I haven't trained it yet.

Technically you are out of your factory warranty but barely. If it was me I would be upfront with my Toyota dealer and emphasize the problem was occurring prior to install as you stated it was weak-was probably happening before 36,000. I do not know for sure but I imagine they have some warranty leeway, one factor might be dealer relationship but you did not buy from dealer. I think with vin you should be able to find out dealer/service/problem history, maybe previous owner had problem. I had a Honda about a 1000 miles over the warranty and it needed new transmission. I talked to service manager and called Honda and and they took care of it, saving me several thousand dollars. Never hurts to nicely ask for something, in my case it was my 4th Honda but when trans went I was on the road and dealer had never seen me. I have no mechanical knowledge and if your install could in no way affect A/C you might get taken care of. Good luck.

Update. Dealer was really cool about the warranty and the issue. Coolant was low, and they recharged my system free of charge. Air is blowing ice cold now. Not a peep about the intake, and several compliments on the truck. They said that they barely ever see supercharged tacomas. Thumbs up for Northridge Toyota, this time.

Glad they took care of you. Gotta love Toyota.

I hope they put some dye in the refrigerant. When it starts to blow warm again, it will make it easier to find were the leak is.

Happy to hear they took care of it for you. Your A/C system... You have a leak and it will empty itself again. Look for signs of refrigerant oil at all connections and repair/replace the parts.,
