The ball didn't hit the ground it wasn't suppose to be an onside kick. Hauschka made bad contact, it was suppose to be a pooch. Both kicker and coach confirmed that after the game. Kicker mistake.

Oh, I was limited to following the game on my phone. It said "onside kick."

 

That's what it ended up looking like, but straight up in the air, not a bounce off the ground. Shitty execution.

 

A friend told me that there should have been a flag for fair catch interference. I'll have to see it.

 

That's what I thought too when it happened. I think the refs were more concerned with just getting the original call correct.

 

Ha.. Rex Ryan is 4-9 vs. the Patriots... Definitely "knows how to handle" them.

 

When he had a good team his defenses gave Brady fits. I still remember watching long-haired Tommy Boy cry in January as LT walked into the endzone.

 

That's fine, his record still speaks for itself. Guy's a blow-hard with nothing to show for anything. He's had some good defenses, looks like he has another one this year, but more often than not, he gets out coached by Belichick, or outplayed by Brady.

I was told that the Seahawks hit the player who called fair catch and that a flag should have been thrown on the Seahawks.

 

IIRC, Brady owned the Jets once when NYJ was a playoff team, and less than a month later the Jets beat the Pats in the playoffs.

 

Correct. Any punt return with that contact and it would've been a flag no doubt.

 

The contact was after the catch while the player was on the ground, the flag was because the fair catch wave was thought to be illegal but the ball never hit the ground so it was legal. I'm not sure of the rule for a fair catch in that situation, don't know if there can or can't be contact after.

 

It's a fair catch... You can't hit a guy who calls for a fair catch. Unless he muffs it or something.

 

That is correct, it was 2010 IIRC. My point is that winning a game here and there does not mean he knows how to handle the Pats. A 4-9 record suggests the opposite actually...

 

Fair catch means you can't interfere with the catch. They didn't, there was no contact until he went to the ground and it appears to me that his slide could constitute contact with the kicking team. Maybe that's why there was no flag for interference. I haven't seen a slow mo of the play, that's just from my memory.

 

Well considering I think Bradys career win percentage is like 75% the average opponent would have about a 25% win record against him. So someone with a 45% win record is actually pretty decent.
