From what I read, this is the kind of rim that is most likely to ensure that you do not have to trim or bend at all.

Pretty much, stock wheels are generally 7 or 7.5 wide.

I understood the stock wheels were what you want for these, and they are 7-7.5". I would assume 8 would be fine but you may be stretching the bead. Most run 8" with a wider tire such as a 285 or a 305

Shouldn't have to re-gear, guys are running 285s with stock gearing. Would definitely help though. Lol.

I run 255/85/16s on my 4 cyl and I haven't regeared. Power isn't great but it's not good to start with anyways. And I went with the 7" wheel over 8". Just look at the recommended wheel width for whichever tire you decide. My BFG KM2's recommend 6.5"-8" wheel

We all know the taller tire wants deeper gears, but if you can reduce any weight on the wheel / tire combination the torque loss will be less noticeable. Some of the 255's are heavier (like the Toyo M/T), but if you are buying new wheels check the weight here as well. I put 4.56 gears in my axles and like the added grunt (paying for it in gas mileage though). Running 265/75 Dura-Trac and alternately 255/85 Cooper ST.

Alright guys, I got something to ask.

For those of you with 255/85r16 in the ST Maxx, does y'alls truck feel floaty, like the ass end is loose? I just got mine yesterday morning, but 75 mph on the interstate makes me feel really uneasy when I'm turning. I started with the tire pressure at 40 F/R, but then dropped them to 36/34 F/R, and that seemed to help it out a little, but it's still very pronounced. Have ya'll experienced this, and could you figure out some way to minimize it/ get rid of it?

The tires ride great, and look great too, but this is kinda freaky. I read about people experiencing it on forums for 3/4 ton trucks that are heavy as heck, but I didn't read anything about it on here, and wasn't expecting it.

    :help:

No issues. What tire size did you have prior?

Before I had 265/75r16 Mickey Thompsons. What are you running for pressure in them?

36 front and rear. Might just feel different due to a different size you had prior?

Maybe so. I will probably get use to it, and will try playing around with different pressures to see if that helps. If you're running 36 psi will all that armor, I'm probably running them a little high. At least in the front.

They are a pretty stiff tire.

Yeah, I'll chalk test them then adjust accordingly.

    No issues like RCOTacos above.

My new load E Toyos like 40 PSI, anything less and they start to look low. My double cab is 400 lb. over stock weight all time.

Tires are stiff. I'm sure my spine will shrink a 1/4" overtime. Can't wait to get them in some serious terrain.

No issues with mine. I have the same tire but 255/80/17 (I guess that could be the difference). They are noisy if you push them hard on a turn, but they seem pretty stable at all speeds. I haven't checked what psi the installers used yet though.
