The noise is normal. Thats the sound of your brakes actuating quickly. It sounds just like ABS brakes because it's basically the same thing. The system probably isn't smart enough to feather the brakes so it just pulses them to keep the speed down. Typical ABS noise here https://youtu.be/TTQvz18oeoI?t=38s

I suspect if you set crawl control to max speed on a flat or inclined relatively smooth road it won't make noise since idle engine speed will keep it slow enough that it doesn't need to use the brakes, and there is no wheel spin to correct. On the other hand it would be much more raucous going down hill, as you noticed.

    Thanks for sharing the vid.

Very nice truck. Forgive me if I missed this in the thread. Do the seats have height adjustment?

Just an FYI, my 4runner has down hill assist or decent assist or whatever it's called, but it sounds very similar.. I hardly use it just because it feels so odd to not have your feet on the pedals while coming down a slope lol.. And once again OP, awesome review.. Went above and beyond. You ever come out to Amarillo TX give me a shout out.. Beer is on me!!!! Thanks again and be safe..

Very nicely done. Only negative is the huge grill IMO. Otherwise it seems well thought out.

Glad to hear it's normal, I figured it was.
I don't remember hearing about all the noise in any of the release video's that were posted.

Mike, we allappreciate the great updates. Im most curious about engine performance. Can you elaborate of how it feels in regards to full on acceleration, passing speeds, etc.? I realize your probably breaking it in but im hoping its at least got a little "pep" to it.

Since you purchased from Toyota of Surprise, are they offering the $250 over invoice?
I almost purchased a 2015 from them, but decided to wait for the 2016's. If I remember the 2015 was priced 250 or 500 over the invoice.
Just asking because they will be one of the dealers I go to when I start looking again.

Great posts, keep them up. Enjoy your truck.

It was $700 over invoice for the '16.
    I used Graham Faria.

Thanks for the info. I will keep that in mind when I go shopping. (it will be a few months).
I will also use AARP car buying service. Bell Road Toyota actually beat Toyota of Surprise when I almost purchased the 2015. AARP service is all done by emails.

I did all my initial shopping via email also. Had a bad experience with the guy at Bell Rd. Later another guy got in touch and said the 1st guy was no longer with them. He seemed nice but also said the owner set the prices at MSRP only. Had the same with a couple other dealers.

@Mike330R Hearing about your issue with your moon roof I'm a bit disappointed. I have no need nor a desire for a moon roof in the truck as all it does is create another place for water and other things to leak in. Had you not discovered the sound in the roof and it rained, would water have gotten in the cab?

Most likely! However they ran it through the car wash at the dealer before I took it home. No evidence of water in the cab when I picked it up. I did have the shade closed though. If any got in the roof area it's for sure dry by now with our temps over 100 daily.
I was disappointed also but all I can do is have them fix it. Salesman said it's probably an easy fix but what does he know :)
