Does anyone have a factory tonneau cover on their new 2016 Tacoma?

There have been a few owner reports from people that have brought home their new trucks. None that I am aware of have included the factory tonneau cover. Specifically I am looking for first-hand impressions on how the cover fits.

If you look at this picture...

    and this picture...

..you can see the rear corners sticking up. In the top pic it almost looks like you could see down into the bed. Looks crappy IMO. I have been trying to get a tacoma allocated to me with a cover which is slowing down my receiving of the truck.

Just wondering if this sticking up is normal and not and installation error or what is going on. I don't want to get this OEM cover if it is sticking op like that.

Going against all that TW seems to stand for can we please just address the specific question I have and not debate pro/cons of covers or talk about aftermarket options. I'll cross that bridge later.
    Thanks

It doubles as a fin for added traction.

Saw one on a MGM TRD OffRoad 4x4 DC at Big Two Toyota in Chandler AZ. I didn't care for it. It seemed to fit flush though. If I had known others were curious about the cover, I would have taken a picture.

Ya, I'm with you. I've not been real impressed with the pictures I've seen either. My '16 will be arriving with one, so I'll be able to tell you when it arrives. This seems a bit like Toyota trying to fulfill some MPG requirements rather than giving customers a quality product. I've been very happy with my current setup (Terrible pic)...

Thanks. Even though it was flush did you get the impression it was a cheap/crappy product? I know you probably were not paying too close attention to that specifically...

The plastic looked pretty thick and it felt sturdy enough. I didn't think it was a quality issue just more of a function issue for my own personal needs. My main concern with the cover was how it would fold up and stow away... I have two bird dogs and usually put their dog boxes in the back of the truck so was concerned it would take up too much space if it doesn't stow away somehow. The truck was filthy, it had just been unloaded off of the car carrier an hour prior and probably had been through some Rain & Dust storms.

In those pictures it looks to me not so much like the rear is lifted, but rather that the tonneau cover gets narrower towards the back. I think we need better pictures and/or to see it in real life to know exactly how it's fitting.

    I saw one.
Didn't play around with it but it kinda looked like something a cover you'd buy at Walmart.
It had the tacoma logo which was cool but other than that it didn't look like 650 dollar quality.
    Go after market for sure.

The TSS package on the orange SR5 looks like a Gulf States distributor installed wheel, side steps and sticker package. I saw a "Tacoma Silver Edition" listed for a 2016 Tacoma SR5 in Texas. The silver package was a Gulf States distributor installed package on some 2015 Tacomas.

Yeah, my understanding is that something like 30% of Tacomas are required to be sold with the tonneau cover (per EPA requirements)

Thanks. FWIW, the cover comes off very quickly.

They will be making deals on the covers if they can't make this requirement.

You are speaking of the new Toyota factory cover? Any details?

I messed around with one on the lot. The handle is on the drivers side and that's where it's usually pulled up from so I wonder if that's why it looks like that.

This is important to me, also. I didn't order one off the bat because I have no experience with them, and I'm not sure how they will fit. There are a ton of aftermarket options from what I have seen, as well...and I want to have a look at my options.

I went ahead and ordered the cover with my truck. I like the idea of having the ignition key match the cover. This might not be the case, but that is what I thought I read somewhere.

If the ignition key won't fit the tailgate lock, then it is doubtful it will fit the cover.

Hmm, I find that strange. I ordered a 6MT so my truck wouldn't have a fob I guess. Yea, that would suck to have 3 keys (ignition, tailgate, and bed cover)

Manual trans has a regular keyed ignition from what I have seen.
