if thats the stupidest reply ever I dont know what this is... he is looking for something to tow 6000+ lbs and you give an example of a 3000 lbs travel trailer? How does that help him...

Personally I wouldnt tow anything over 4000 lbs with a Tacoma, but thats not to say you cant. OP I would probably go buy a few year used diesel and call it a day.

My tundra was rated for 6700 too. Didn't make it a comfortable drive. Did it get the job done? Yes. Was it an easy tow? No. I've towed my tacoma across most the western states. Some subtle things to take into consideration:

First...GCVW, not just tow capacity. Start adding cargo in the bed, passengers, fuel, etc, you'll max out GCVW before tow capacity.
Terrain. Not sure where you live, but going up and down any moderate to significant grade (especially at elevation) takes a toll. I had to drop to 2nd gear just to go up the grades in the Sierra Nevada's and Utah. Not a great feeling when you're doing 35 mph and getting passed by people doing 75. And coming down is a whole different kind of white knuckle. Engine breaking with a small engine and a light truck doesn't do much. Even with trailer brakes, the whole thing wants to push downhill.
Wind. Again...small truck. Gust of wind on a 6000 pound tow will make the truck change lanes before you can even think about correcting.

Not trying to dissuade you from your decision from buying a Tacoma, but IMO a midsize truck isn't the best decision for towing a full sized car. Again, yes it can be done, but personal fatigue and stress are factors you can't put on a sheet of vehicle specifications.

Are you bracket racing? If not, you should be with that consistency.

If it wont tow the weight, i wont bother buying a trailer. I'm not looking to buy a used full size or thats what i would have done.

I was this weekend. Made all those passes in about 1000' DA. Eliminations were next day and DA dropped to -10'. I pulled some power and lifted at 1000' marker but still ran too fast (12.1)

The point is I see many people towing with Tacomas. Smaller loads? Of course. If you get a Tacoma and plan on towing a small trailer, then towing WILL be a factor. They offer a tow package so yes, the Tacoma is meant to tow. Simply saying "Oh, you have a pop up trailer? You should get a Tundra!" is just asinine.

Lack of reading comprehension is just asinine.
OP stated up front it was a 6k tow.

    Meant to tow midsize loads.

I don't have a dog in the race, so give me a little more weight when I say you're being really ignorant of the functionality a midsize truck offers, whether it's because you tend to be rabid in third gen Tacoma threads and defend them like it's your daughter or who knows what other reason, but beligerent thoughts help nobody.

Jason knows what he's talking about in the practical sense. You are reading off a spec sheet. Your experience Tacoma towing is half of what OP is asking about, and the jump from 3k to 6k is huge.

    Listen more. Argue less.

Take me off the pedestal. Everyone knows I'm just a web wheeler, internet fabricator, world wide web shock tuner, and a cyberspace tow-er.

Many people on this forum think towing anything with a Tacoma is dumb. I disagree.

You aren't on a pedestal, cockbag.

But when someone has experience, they have experience. Yours is relevant here so you get a mention that has value.

    Now GTFO

Hardly. There is an entire towing section full of info and people who bought a Tacoma expressly to tow with. Many more are buying trailers and things because they know (from others) that the truck can handle it and what to expect/how to equip their truck to pull safely and with relative efficiency.

    That post holds zero water.

There is life outside the third gen section.
