I know we'd be hittin' ya up for some tool borrowing and help quite frequently if you lived here! :D How'd it all work out?

TW, here's the oh-so-exciting fence & gate update:

Got the side fence panel demo'd yesterday. It's the panel that will join the giant 6 x 6 new corner fence post that holds the big driveway gate. Because of the way those mannerstones are situated over there, we had to do lots of digging and lots of mannerstone moving.

This morning, the plan is more mannerstone moving, then setting a 4 x 4 post for the other end of the panel we're rebuilding, then back to finishing the small gate while that concreted post dries.

Cannot wait to drive the Taco back there. With no garage yet, there's really ZERO reason to do so, other than taking out the lawn.

But the most important reason of all to drive back there will be: BECAUSE WE CAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:burnrubber:

This project is so much fun. It's even got thrills along the way - while taking down fence boards yesterday, I had some VERY close encounters with seemingly thousands of LARGE JUICY spiders of all kinds!! Even somehow managed to stick my forehead directly into a giant web of a really big juicy spider. And I didn't even scream when I realized it - that's how focused I am on gittin' er dun!!!! When Eric saw the close quarters I was working in with the spiders, he said, "Wow, you must be really drunk right now!"

We have to move the mannerstones in the corner and the plan is to continue that wall in the same direction it was going. Reason we're torturing ourselves doing all that is because a fence panel will connect off the side of that giant gate post, and the panel needs to run straight through that area where the stones are  More pics later! Have a good one TW :)

Wow. Wish that was our view!! Beautiful! We thought about doing a fence like that out front. Still might one of these days, if we ever finish redoing the back fence!!

    Got the small gate finished!

Got the post set for the side fence panel!

Tomorrow we'll hang the small gate (gotta run to grab more hinges, and we already started :drunk:so errands have to wait til the morn).

Then we'll start building the fence panel on the side, that post should be set well enough by then. He poured the concrete around it ~1pm today, so I'm thinking it'll be at least 24 hrs later when we start putting stringers on it.

Got the weird dirt hump smoothed out better too - I can definitely visualize some sort of driveway continuing back now!! Into a nice massive garage hopefully, someday anyway....maybe next summer?

Massive pic upload coming soon!! Too hungry and in need of shower and more beer to do pics now, sorry. :D If only I had a smartphone..........;)

    Happy Friday evening TW!! :)

Almost have both gates hung!! It's amazing how difficult it is to hang two giant wooden structures exactly level to one another....

And.........attempt #3 at hanging them level about to commence :D

Firing up the pressure washer for another round of cleaning, then we need to fill in the threshold below the closed gates with those stupid manor stones by partially burying them, so the tops of them run level, to minimize the gap between the slightly sloped ground and the bottom of the gates.........that should be a jolly good time in the blazing HOT sun and 90 degree weather  Frozen strawberry drinks later for sure!!!!!! :D

I really, really hate  manor stones right about now. Blame the manor stones for the spider casualties @cosmicfires (AKA Cosmic Spiders :D)

@koditten , gazebo yet??????????????????????????? Any progress? :notsure:

I don't know about your blazing hot sun, been working up in the woods on some of my pioneer roads, in rain and drizzle. So far, almost 40 man hours with a pick, shovel and root ax trying to restore drainage, with mightly 100' tall poplar trees and their roots deciding how water should flow.

It was so muddy last week that we clogged the washer machine drain from our work clothes, and we had to invest in new tall rubber boots with steel toes.

On the other hand, we have local whiskey...

As for mechanical work, the M37 won't start due to a fried battery post and I don't feel like spending $250 this week on a new set of two 12v truck batteries.

Both gates hung - AND they are level to each other!! :woot:

Eric built the manor stone threshold below them - it's looking good and what a PITA it was getting those things sunk/positioned properly!! :frusty:

I pressure washed cedar fence boards til my arm almost fell off. Squeaky clean now! :D

Tomorrow he'll build the side fence panel while I stain the new gates. Then put the jewelry on the new gates (handles, etc) and we're done!!! :D

For now. Then it's time to start planning the garage. Eric's holding his ground on that one. No talking him out of it now that I mentioned it as a "possible" idea. Barring any major catastrophes, could be next summer's project!! Woo hoo!! :woot:

Just finished multiple frozen drinks and I can still type!! Check it out TW!!

I suggest you get one of these: http://www.absoluterv.com/metal-buildings/steel-buildings-by-state/oregon-metal-buildings/

most companies all have the same thing just different prices but you cant get a better deal then have a complete garage delivered set up and ready to use the very same day.

for a big 24'x30' two car garage, they go for $5k-$7k depending on what you want as far as doors and windows. I had one done with just a roof and no walls for $2500 and priced one fully boxed in for $7k delivered and installed with 2 ten foot garage doors, ten foot walls, 4 windows, and a 36" walk in door.

you cant build anything cheaper then that yourself and this is maint free and will outlast most anything you can build.

here is something to help you play with ideas: http://armstrongsteel.com/steel-buildings/
