Still waiting on my Limited to arrive, but some on the forums expressed their disappointment in the 2016 V6 engine performance. Is it the engine or the vehicles software making the engine underwhelming?

Was considering a Colorado a month or so ago (don't hate!) and members the Colorado forums were complaining about the Chevy's V6 as well. Until many of the members started buying and installing after market software to install and the difference is apparently night and day.

    Is this the same scenario?

I have a Ltd on order and have been reading the same thing. I found the owner's manual online yesterday. I found this in there:

Don't overthink it while you wait for your truck to arrive. Drive it yourself first then complain about it.

ECT button was on some older Toyotas in the day, Camry, 4Runner and the 1st gen Tacoma. It just changes the shift points I. The transmission. As for the sport shifting, once again, old news. Have it in our Tundra and my 4Runner. It's decent and will hold a gear until you up shift it. Used it a few times running through the shastas and siskyous.

Now that I've driven one, I'd say the complaints about the V6 are legitimate.

Toyota has their ECU's locked down. They are much more difficult to tune than domestic rigs. Even on the 2nd gen trucks, we had to install hardware and manipulate sensor data to tune fueling. That said, don't buy a Toyota for HP. Buy it so you can watch your grandkids learn how to drive in it.
