Hopefully they got in their 500 break-in miles so the dealer can't void their warranty....

It weighs 4300 and has 2.92 gears. I could give a rats ass what a mustang runs

    ...too much shit to list.
The math was an exercise to get you to think beyond tow capacity. Moving the tires from the truck to the trailer doesn't change the math in GCVW. You are just moving it from the truck to the trailer.
The sway controller is not heavy at all. Maybe 4 pounds. The weight is the hitch. You still have load bars and a solid hitch to accommodate 6500 lbs. I personally won't tow anything over 5k without sway control...but each to their own white knuckling preferences.
Aluminum trailers are going to cost you an additional 1/3 of the price. Props to you if you can afford it, but it will definitely give you additional #'s to work with.
Feel free to run through the math again with what you stated. It doesn't change much. Tools, extra fluids, spare clothes, chairs & awnings & fixings for the pits, food, beverages, ex wives, etc. all add up significantly. Not to mention if you get the mod-bug and upgrade suspension, get bigger tires, sliders, bumpers, etc. This is the part that most tow-ers don't think about and only think about tow capacity.

Sounds like I might have to use my dads 2500hd and let him drive my Tacoma while at races

Perhaps not if you lie to them if they asked you directly. That's not the kind of person I am.

Then again, there is a comprehensive engine and vehicle data recorder built in that would be able to tell the story of what happened. The owner's basically calls it a black box that can be used for diagnostic detective work.

I'm a dealer tech, we could give a shit less how people use their trucks.

Data recorder is activated during airbag deployment, not how you drive the truck in normal circumstances

That's great. I'm a business owner, and you might not care, but if I as an owner were fiscally liable for replacing an engine or transmission, I'm sure as fuck going to make sure to see if they did something to void the warranty. And if I felt like not caring that day, my insurance company or Toyota corporate (if they ultimately have to foot the bill) are going to let me hang out to dry for not doing my due diligence- thus I will have to pay, thus I will be giving a fuck if a brand new truck with less than 500 miles returns to the dealership with a blown engine or transmission and indications of towing.

Break in period is for the diff(s), not engine/transmission.

We've put free engines in for people who haven't ever changed their oil. How does that make you feel?

Not my money. GM makes the call on what gets replaced on a job in that case

Wait the dealer tech doesn't pay for the new engine they put in a customers car? That's news to me
