Not as impressive as everything else in here, but I made the beginning of a pond, a pre-pond of you will.
Up to 7' deep this evening when I left.

Does anyone have any ideas or links to good, beginning welding projects? Looking to make something useful in my infrequent spare time to help practice my skills.

The best welding project is one where you actually need what you make. My first project was a mid skid for Smokey. Just figure out what you need and then figure out how to make it happen. Good luck!

Funny enough, the first thing I ever welded was his CMC plates onto my truck.

Never thought about making my own skids, I'm going to have to look into that!

Not so much made, but designed. :D

I'm in Louisiana supervising the installation of the sea fastenings I designed. I'll post more pictures later, but there will be an offshore topsides (platform) attached to these supports. The platform is being decommissioned.

I'm not sure on the specifics, but if they've gotten to the point that they're scrapping the platform it's safe to say that the well is played out.

First welding projects for our students include a steels cube, maybe try and make a storage/tool box. It will teach you alot about heat control and proper setup and planning. After you will have a cool container.

Thanks Ryan! I've got a few more things to finish up before all my holiday time projects start rolling in. Fall is always a busy season for doing house portraits, actually starting on one today.
