    Indeed.

They also said they recommend a tranny drain/fill every 15k miles, even though Toyota recommends it at 40k.

Picked up my camper top after getting it color matched... Color is spot on but it definitely isn't a perfect paint job. Not real happy with the shop that did it, but it works.

Also my oem bed mat and Yakima topper tracks came in today. Bed mat installed and hope to do the tracks this weekend.

Did you remove the windows and door before handing it over to them? What did they goof? Orange peeling? Runs?

I dropped the top off last Tues and said it would be 3 days until it was done. They quoted me $550 out the door, including them removing the windows.

They called me the next morning and said it was done. I asked if I could leave it until Fri because that was my day off. They said it would be in their way and stood the chance of getting damaged if I left it until then. So I took time off work and went to pick it up at lunch on Wed.

Get there and my camper is covered in dust or whatever they had been standing near it. We walk around and I notice some gouges in the paint near the rear hatch. It looked like they bumped the paint while it was still wet. I pointed it out and they apologized and told me they would fix it. I asked if they removed the windows and he said they tried but couldn't... Because they were epoxied in? But they were going to deduct 2 hours of labor. I left and they said it would be ready on Thurs.

Thursday morning I get a call and said it was ready. I asked them if it was really ready and to make sure it was clean before I get there. Get ready to pick it up at lunch and get a call as I'm walking out... They were cleaning the top and noticed some "solvent bubbles" that came out while drying and they wanted it to be perfect after what happened the day before. They were going to sand and reapply clear.

Spent all day Friday waiting on a call and never got it. I call them at 5 asking if it was ready. They said it had been ready for a while but thought it was too late in the day to call me. I ask when they closed, he said 5:30. I told them I'd be by in 10 min. He then said everyone was already gone and there was no one there to put it back on. But I could come first thing Monday.

Show up this morning and the top is still not 100% clean, they tried to charge me the full quote price, told me the guy misspoke on Tues and they can only deduct 1 hour of labor and not 2. I speak my mind but they weren't having it. I had to get back to work so I paid the $515 and waited... And waited. 15 min later they come and get me to help put the brackets on!

They had misplaced the top portion of the clamps and I had to walk around their shop to find them. And then I ended up putting 2 of the clamps on to show them how to do it.

After work I was looking at it more closely and it is still not perfect like they told me it was going to be. There are a couple of solvent bubbles still visible and the original paint gouge I pointed out last week is gone but the area is noticeably different than the rest of the shell.

Going to call in the morning and tell them how dissatisfied I am with their work.

This shop came reccommended to me by several folks I know, one is a mechanic. They were only $40 less than the dealer but talking with the owner, I thought I'd get a better job and I was happy to give my money to the smaller local shop...

    SHOULD'VE GONE TO THE DEALER!

    Sorry for the rant...

Is that what you used to get the adhesive residue off? I've been trying every time I wash my car, no luck.

That sucks. Unprofessional. But it helps to hear your story. I am getting quotes and shopping around for my painter now. From what the Leer dealer said, I can pull the windows out myself pretty easily, and frankly I'd rather do that anyway.

Exactly... Unprofessional is the best way to describe it. Seems like everything I've read says the windows aren't too bad to remove. I'm wondering if they even tried... Or if they were even going to tell me that they didn't remove them if I didnt ask.

Took on the thin-lip Homer grill. More work than I anticipated but like the results b669aa47b1d7214e2a19332e5b8634c6_c3bd3fadd13f41e2d00b2d3be9f5e168e0e0143b.jpg

Yes! Works great to get the residue off (hence the stripe removal namesake!). You don't need to press hard. Let the wheel do the work. You can also use an "all-purpose" cleaner to remove the residue if a wheel isn't your thing. I believe all major detail-product companies make one at this point.
