I don't bring a same size spare I just try to drive a little more careful...or faster so I don't hit anything sharp long enough to puncture the tire

No guys, have the spare in the normal spot for dd, then when you get to the park just drop the spare and throw it in the bed. I did it plenty of times and it worked well.

 

It's ok to hit the hitch bumper or fender those are not important for you getting home.

I don't like the hoops. I like the mini hoop...the one that is made for light bars, but I will request that they do not put lightbar mounts on.

I think the last bend might be tricky. Why the double bend? How about just a straight leg to the ledge. And when you say ledge I will assume you are talking about the tire well?
