    Hey TW,
I have a court date in a few weeks to fight my ticket.
I have never done this so I have no clue.

Has anyone ever done this? Any advise?

    Thanks!

At fault? Pay it. You're guilty, be a man about it.

Not at fault? Explain your case and have anything you might need to help you do so.

That about covers it. A Google search will turn up about 10 million forums dedicated to people who knowingly broke traffic laws and then haven't enough yamsack to shoulder the consequences. If you really want "advice" there is plenty to read.

As someone who has successfully fought wrongful tickets in traffic court, it isn't anything to ask advice about really. See the first comments in my post.

Lastly, don't believe half of what you read regarding traffic ticket info online.

I beat a speeding in a school zone ticket 4 years ago. It was a set up..... I got pulled over on the first day of school. Speed is normally 45 mph in the school zone. When lights flashing, it's 35. I did NOT see flashing lights. Got pulled over and cited. I went back the very next day at the very same time, with a camera. I found the flashing lights blocked from view by tree limbs. I got on a Louisville Dept of Public Works website and found where a work order had been issued two weeks prior to trim the limbs. An officer (of Louisville Metro Police Dept) was assigned to work traffic while the limbs were cut. The very same officer who wrote me the ticket.....It rained that day and the limbs were NOT cut. A new work day was assigned.....4 days AFTER I was ticketed. I got all sorts of pictures from various distances to prove a driver could NOT see the flashing lights from EITHER driving lane (4-lane road) I copied the Dept of Public Works page and took that with me, as well as the pictures. First date was a hearing.....Pled not guilty and rescheduled a court date. On THAT day, I meet the young snot nosed brat of a city attorney who was handling the case, as well as the officer. They thought I was challenging the radar gun. They had all sorts of info on the accuracy of hand held radar. Boy were they surprised when I started showing my evidence to the judge. That judge was particularly interested in the part where the officer who issued the citation already knew about the tree limbs and was MAKING NO EFFORT TO WARN MOTORIST'S APPROACHING THE SCHOOL ZONE when he knew no one could see the flashing lights. Before we were done, the judge made the officer apologize to me, and she filed a report with his superior officer. In Kentucky, you pay double the fine when speeding takes place in a school zone. Ticket alone (without court cost) would have been over $400. Then the points assessed to my license would double also. That would put me within one moving violation of having my license suspended. Citation was dropped. Nothing would appear on my record.

    Go prepared for anything.

Go prepared to have EVERYONE there against you.

My policy has always been is to go to traffic court, talk to the prosocuter and have the ticket changed to a more expensive, non-moving violation. It will cost a bit more up front, but not go on your record as a moving or raise your insurance rates. I just sent in my insurance payment for five vehicles for six months, '11 taco and '08 Wrangler with full coverage, and my 3 sixties models dodge trucks for $500 for ALL.

    Hard headed kid, brother.

No offense intended. Both my youngest son and wife got speeding tickets and did the driving class route. And they kept it hidden from me, I didn't find out until almost 2 yrs later. I was busy working very long days before I retired from active duty.

I've done the class for speeding tickets as well. It's simply a legal option in Fl. Pay the fine, no court, no points, (although there are limits on how many times within a period of time you can do this).

However, we have no idea what the OPs offense was, or if something like this is an option.

OP, if you are innocent, or there are mitigating circumstances like the post Bluegrass had, best of luck. Sometimes just showing up is all that's required, because the arresting officer may not. In Fl, you're dismissed if they don't.

If you are guilty, take your checkbook.
