"... 04’ish Tacoma quad cab silver 6-7 years ago. The silver on the 2016 is different and much nicer!"

i have to disagree with this, otherwise great write up on the truck

Congrats on an awesome looking truck. All the pictures everyone posted made the nose of the truck look really long. but here it looks normal.

Op any drivetrain vibrations? It's an issue swears said they solved with the 3rd gen, I'm curious if tacoma fans can finally enjoy a vibration free truck. Thanks for all the pictures and feedback on the truck, very informative!

Just curious where did you hear projected 24? A lot of times when they advertise those things, they advertise their best model truck, which is often a 4x2. It stinks that they don't mention this but once you add 4x4 and double cab, and also AT tires, those are all factors that kill your MPG.

18% on rear and door windows. Rear windows look darker since it was applied over the factory tint.

NICE thanks for the write up!!! I think I'm waiting until spring... Off Road or Sport, I can't decide... My friend had a Raptor and that truck feels like it's floating across the bumps in the road... Is the Off Road more softly sprung than the Sport???

    OP,
Assuming your '02 Tacoma was 4X4 how would you compare the ride on the typical AZ dirt roads to the new truck? My last tacoma was an '02 SR5 4X4 and I have a silver TRDOR 4X4 AC on order.

My '00 was an SR5. It had Deavers and Kings. Once I got the kings rebuilt it rode good. I'd say the '16 rides real close to the same or better. It's to different to give a good comparison. So many other things are different in the new one. The other one we had was to long ago and I don't remember how it rode. It was a TRD with the E-locker. Only used it once or twice. It was my wifes daily driver.

My old 1st gen parked on an abandoned track. Before I added sliders.

How dark is the factory tint? It only comes on the the rear glass and rear doors, right?

The abs system is sometimes mounted there for the 2nd gens. In mine the air filter isn't as massive and I managed to put a 2nd battery there.

    Thanks for the info.
I doubt I could get a full sized battery in there.
    Still wondering what goes there.

In your truck the ABS system is on the drivers side. Sometimes for whatever reason Toyota puts it on the passenger side where those three mounting points are.

OP - thanks for the string of updates - very helpful. Love the tint, that is sweet! I intend to tint mine - we also have brutal sun here in Colorado but not quite like you guys!

Now that you have been driving for a few days what is your impression on the build quality both in and out? Does it feel more or less solid than you expected and what does it leave you wishing they had done differently?
