I know that "lease" is a four-letter-word to some folk, but I thought I would share this info for those interested.
I just left a local dealership to scope the lone '16 (TSSDCSB 4x2) in the area and it turns out it was sold last night. At any rate, I inquired further and the salesman stated that the vehicle was sold as a 36 month lease. Turns out the 36 month/12k residual value is 72%. The '15 residual at 36 month/12k is 68% (for 24, 36, 48, 60 months they are 78%, 68%, 59% and 49% respectively for a similarly equipped '15).
If anyone is considering leasing the new model, hopefully this information proves useful prior to entering the dealership. I've found Lease Guide Calculator (Google it or http://www.leaseguide.com/calc/) to be an invaluable tool. Very accurate and comprehensive.

No, didn't get to that point. Certainly it will be credit-based. Since there won't be any lease specials/incentives it will probably equate to a similar interest rate based on credit.

I'm not following your percentages because I lease every 2 years but I sign a 5 year lease. I have a 2014 dc 4x4 sport my residual is 15,580$ after five years. Where do you get 12k$ at are you taking the value of the truck and times it by the % of the numbers you posted.

I work for TMMC and I get 2500$ off and 3% under invoice I always come ahead every time I trade because of my discount I do it for 5 years for a cheap payment and I know I will get another in 2 years.

If anyone has an estimate for a 36 month/ 12k a year lease on a DC off-road please let me know.
Also, what is the invoice price for a DCSB Trd off-road 4x4 6spd. Went to a couple dealers and they couldn't even find the msrp on a '16...must be because of my area
    Thanks

Go to kbb and build one and it will show you the msrp and invoice price.

The 12k is 12,000 miles annually. Sorry for the confusion.

Based on the info I received yesterday, yes. The current '15 models value at 68% after 36 months and the '16 models value at 72% after 36 months. An increase of 4% from last to this model year.

MSRP should be about $33,730 (plus destination, etc.) and $34,340 (plus destination, etc.) for the long bed. Invoice should be about 2-3% less than the MSRP, unless I am mistaken.

The base MSRP is $32100, invoice is $29738. Tow package that all TRD's get is $650/$579. $900 destination. Total is $33650 MSRP or $31217 at invoice for the least equipped TRD OR 6MT. There's an entire pricing thread floating around out there with invoice on most everything.

72% residual for 3yr/36k miles is the best I have ever seen for any vehicle; if you can get some discounts, there is potential for amazing lease deals on the 3rd gen Taco.

Also keep in mind that TFS allows multiple security deposits (MSDs) to buy down the money factor, so even if it's a bit high (I'm guessing 0.001700=4.35%) you can buy it down to 0.00098=2.35% with 9 MSDs, which you get back at the end of the lease. MSDs are basically like a 3yr CD earning 8%+ per year.

I like leasing because it frees up cash flow that I can then put toward appreciating assets (i.e. stocks). MSD programs are like their own mini-investments, so I will only lease vehicles that are available with MSDs (Toyota/Lexus, BMW, Merc, etc).

I've only leased two vehicles (both for my wife and they have been our two most recent vehicles). I've not heard about MSDs but I am intrigued. I'm sure I can Google the ins and outs of them (and I likely will) but can you expound a bit on how they work. I get the gist of it based on your explanation but I'm curious about more. For 9 MSDs, what are you paying for each one individually? I'm also assuming they apply only to the money factor and not down payment dollars, correct?
So much to learn. Glad you commented, phew. Thanks for any info you can offer.

That's great info right there! Did not know about the MSDs. Is it a set amount or is each MSD a percentage of something? Would you happen to know if the MSDs are returned if the vehicle is bought out instead of turned back in?

Each MSD is the monthly payment, rounded up to the nearest $50. So if your payment is $338, each MSD is $350. I believe with Toyota, the max is either 9 or 10, and each one buys the MF down 0.00008. So in this case, you would pay $3150 for 9 MSDs, then you get the money back at the conclusion of the lease, whether you buy the vehicle or return it. If the tires are worn below spec or the vehicle is otherwise damaged, they'll deduct the repair/replace costs from the MSDs (the whole point of the MSD program is to limit liability for the financing company for wear/damage). Obviously you have to pay these things anyway (even if you don't do MSDs), but MSDs protect TFS in case you go bankrupt between when you start your lease and turn in the truck.

My favorite lease calculator is this one:
    http://www.ridewithg.com/rwg-calculator/

Pay attention to the "RwG Deal Rating" at the bottom; it's the best indicator I've found on the "goodness" of a lease. My BMW came out to 108, which is rather good. I've heard of as high as 120+ for certain situations (dealer demo, leftover model, partner pricing, etc). If it's below 90-95, you might be better off financing.
