None of mine have been taught to sit. Katie is the hardest charger I've had. Hunted with my vet last season for the first time. His comment was" you said she was all
peddle to the metal, but man, that's high octane!" She makes me proud. So, no duck blinds for her.

Sounds like they are very similar in trait. One of my training partners never stops bugging me about Field Trialing her. He says that her energy and big running is what judges love. We'll see.

When I was hunt testing her I got a pile great comments about her. I'm just not anal enough to train her to the required level. She's steady till the gun goes off, and brings back the bird, that's all I need. I think "big running" is a relative term. Different to different folks. I like mine within 200 yds.

Riley turned 6 this year and I sometimes wonder about a second dog. More as a companion for him than for me but I hear what you guys are saying. I cannot imagine losing him but I know that day will come-some great thoughts on the matter; thank you.

I had to put my lab down this March two months shy of her sixteenth birthday. My kids were on me immediately to get another dog. I kept telling them that there is no way I was ready to have another dog and probably wouldn't be for a long time.

In June, for my birthday, my wife decided that I needed another lab in my life and surprised me with an eight week old puppy. Honestly, at first I was pretty upset about it and didn't think I would bond with him at all, but as I type this, my now five month old puppy is literally sleeping on my feet and I can't imagine not having this big goof around.

He isn't a replacement for my old girl, but he sure has brought his own kind of happiness into my life.

Another dog does ease the loss, in my opinion.

Don't let the innocent looks fool ya!

Baby, on the left is a 14 year old Papillon/Springer Spaniel mix. She is our first rescue dog. Entire cost to get her was $75. I'd give $7500 for another one just like her. The smartest dog I've ever been around.

Nikki (Lady Catherine Nicole, Full AKC name) is a 9-year old Papillon. Former agility trials winner, she's now retired from competition. This dog can fly! She can catch rabbits and squirrels at will. She then makes friends with 'em. She wouldn't harm an ant. Also, you could not obedience train a dog any better than Nikki, and she didn't have one second of obedience training. She's just that good naturally. Fearless. She's the only dog I've ever been around that LIKES fireworks. On the 4th of July, she will stand at the door and cry until I take her outside, hold her, and let her watch the fireworks. She follows them as they leave the ground and watches them explode, then looks back to the ground for the next one to go up. We've had her since she was 5 weeks old. Her mother died shortly after giving birth. This dog is obsessed with me. Was bought as a birthday gift for my wife. After 9 years, she is finally starting to acknowledge my wife is even in the house.

Honey, in the middle, is the baby of the bunch. 1/2 Maltese, 1/2 Yorkie. 5 years old and acts like she's 5 months old. A holy terror! She looks bigger than she really is. Mostly hair. 5lbs soaking wet. She thinks she's a killer, but is afraid of EVERYTHING.

Our first family dog, the most loyal rescue ever! Coming up on one year with us. My Tacoma had dog hair all over in the first hour I had it. And some dog barf 5 mins into our first off road... Poor pup doesn't like 4wd at all.
