Cap on it...looking to do alot more soon
    Hi everyone,
I am long time lurker here but decided to join up to take better advantage of the wealthy of knowledge and information here.
I have a stock 2012 Tacoma TRD DCLB. I put a cap on the back for carrying kayaks and camping out of. I have moved down to Nicaragua to work with an NGO based out of Los Angeles on educating local physiotherapists on appropriate wheelchair provision as well bringing into the country a supply of appropriate chairs.
I will be returning to British Columbia, where I have a house on Vancouver Island, to pick up my truck, do a mad, throw money at it modification/ up grade session to it and then turn it around and drive back to Central America with it over the Christmas holiday period. Some of the mods I hope to accomplish on it over the 2 weeks I will have in Canada:

    - I want a 3" lift with some 33" Toyo MT tires on it
    - I am debating between OME and Rough Country lifts and open to any advice people might have for me.
    - Putting a sleeping/ storage platform in the bed of the truck.
    - ARB fridge in the rear passenger side seat
    - Baja rack over the cab
    - I have thule bars on the cap for kayak storage but will have a ladder rack type system built for it in Nicaragua...good metal work at a fraction of the price.
    - Hannibal foxwing awning
    - I hope to be dragging a teardrop trailer behind it for housing at the beaches en route and the many beaches of El Salvador and Nicaragua where I will be working...and surfing!
    - i want an ARB winch bumper but am not sure the funds are there...have to prioritize
    - Garmin navigation unit...finding my way around Managua is nightmare!

I have paraplegia so use a wheelchair for mobility and a kayak for surfing.
I will be patrolling this site for as much information as I can gather in preparing to modify my truck. I will likely start a build thread when i get moving on it. I hope to film the drive down here with my gal and post a YouTube channel of the adventures.

    Thanks everyone!
    Dave

Unfortunately not right now. I am parked in Managua right now and my truck is waiting patiently for me on Vancouver Island in BC. I will try to a build thread here when I get to it in December.
    Thanks for the welcomes!

Awesome! Sounds like a quite a journey ahead of you.
If you haven't already, watch ExpeditionOverland South America episodes on Youtube.
As a fellow Vancouver Islander, I wish you my best. Have a safe journey.
