    I really am pretty much brand new here, but what I have seen from lurking is that there are two camps. One that thinks putting a completely new engine and transmission in the truck, redoing the interior, redoing the appearance of the front end, and putting new features on a taller back end is nothing but a cosmetic upgrade that is unworthy of true 3rd gen status. And the other camp thinks that Toyota made a metric crap-ton of changes that were totally unneeded and everything about the 2nd gen was better and should have been left alone (i.e. no 3rd gen would ever be acceptable to them unless it had a diesel engine). Yet the very early reviews from folks that have actually bought them have been very positive and seem to indicate that the external appearance issues are being exaggerated and the interior and engine are as good or better than the 2nd gen. Think that about sums up where we stand at the moment...
