I had looked at the bike two days before, but I had to be somewhere and I forgot to take a picture of the vin. I asked if it was registered through the eea and he hadn't registered it which was no big deal. I just assumed he had the title and a bill of sale from the previous owner. Until I asked him to have those ready because I wanted to buy it. Things got weird then, he told me the guy he bought it from offered the title etc, but he didn't want them or need them so just bought the bike. Ok... So when I asked for the vin and he started saying things like the bike is at a friend's, I'll see if his sister is home to take a picture. No one's there to take the picture. He kept saying he's run the vin through multiple sites and it's clean... But his word means nothing to me, because he hadn't given me any reason to trust him. Anyway, I told him I changed my mind. Too sketchy and I didn't feel comfortable buying the bike. He then got defensive and told me how many people he turned away, trying to guilt me for whatever reason. Mind you, it had been about 2 days since I had looked at it, and about a day since I told him I wanted it. Long story short, ask for the vin, title and registration from the get go. Otherwise you might be dealing with the crazy later on. Also to cover your butt. My plan was to make it street legal and have a super moto style commuter... So talking with the rmv and eea about what paper work I'd need to do, what papers I need with the bike is when I decided to check he had them. Nope. Zero paper trail. No bill of sale even, nothing proving he owned the bike.

Good news is though, that money may go towards a jeep! I'm switching over...

Sounds like a great deal to walk away from.

Also, you should stick with the dirt bike idea. You can get more places with a bike than the Jeep :D

You think so? I say it'll go further than most other jeeps... Don't you?

Air cooled straight six, locking diffs... 10ft bed and a weight capacity comparable to a dump truck.

I will admit, that is pretty damn cool! I still say I can get more places with a dirt bike than a truck though. Winter time is challenging though.

The guy selling it has replacement body panels for the entire cab, and it runs awesome. He also has a binder full of this particular trucks history, and of course all the proper documentation. It was a fire engine out in Indiana!

Nice. I love the old FC jeeps. I thought that the longest bed that a SRW came with was a 9-footer, though...

Meh. A 10-footer might have been a one-off that they did for fire departments/Gov't sales. :notsure:

Those Jeeps are real workhorses and they'll go anywhere you point them. Just don't expect to go anywhere quickly with them, lol.

Look up the jeep fc series. This one is the fc170 with the 226 ci i6 and 4 speed manual. This particular one has locking diffs and a towing package.
