it doesb't cost $1500 for 4 gig of ram. i paid $1600 for my computer WITH the 3 year protection plan. without the plan it was between 1200 and 1300. that was for 4 gig of ram, 2.4 processor, built in camera, back lit keyboard, 250 gig hd and a bunch of other shit that doesn't come standard on most PC's. so, to summerize, they are expensive but not more tahn a PC with the same features.

i will admit that their customer service is badass, which is a big factor in the things that i buy

once again, where the fuck are you getting these prices? i got the top of the line mac book WITH the applecare for 1600. Mac Book Pro's are more expensive but most people dont need them.

I actually have a jeep now. Imagine that.
    http://www.apple.com/macbook/specs.html

The new mac book...starting at $999

Looking at those specs....I think id rather buy the 450 dollar PC laptop equivalent and deal with whatever it is that mac owners have a problem with.

EDIT: I just realized that the specs on that macbook are about equivalent with my 2.5 year old laptop.

I won't ever own an apple but damn, they are economical geniuses. I used to think they were charging an arm and a leg for their software but i've realized now that they are probably making more money on hardware.

    $1150 for a fully loaded. (4GB RAM & 500GB HD)

    That's a very good deal.

I was in school when my windows based laptop got a virus and decided to die on me. That was it for me...I went MacBook and haven't regretted it yet.It did take me awhile to learn all the new keystrokes and shortcuts and how some of the system was set up, but I gotta tell you it is sooo nice not having popups, or having to use stupid virus scans all the time

what colton above said, i just built and it was 1249...Lets not talk about mac book pros.

I don't have as much against the mac books as I do their Mac Pro's. I think thats what their desktop is called. I just built a pc thats way more powerful than their quad core Mac pro, and it cost me a little under 800....they want like 2500 bucks for it. If I wanted a mac so bad, I'd build my own computer and dual boot.

In its defense, i've never seen a more beastly computer you can buy straight from a manufacturer.

that is a damn good deal. any sony or toshiba (which is the only pc laptop worth buying) will be as much or more for the same specs

their desk tops are "imacs" i think. i dunno, i never priced the desktops cause i only use laptops. so i cant speak with any confidence about anything but their laptops. but i love mine. plus, its aluminum so its light and tough and NOT WHITE cause i couldn't use a white computer. i'm racist taht way :D

And will you build me one and guarantee that it will not break and guarantee your work so I don't have to ship it too you once a year. And if I ship it to you will you send me a pc that is the equal. This is so I am not without a PC.

Personally.. I love mac as a laptop and pc as a desktop (especially if you build your own).

    So both for me.

I definitely like Macs better, but I use a HP laptop for my work. I use GIS software ArcView and MapInfo, and it is not supported by the Mac OS, unfortunately. The price difference is also way out of line now.

But a Mac Man and a PC Man are like a Toyota Man and Nissan Man.
