You can spend the same amount of money and get a bigger vehicle regardless if it fits your needs better. In other words buy the vehicle that has the most mass at a given price. Your needs should come second.

yep. i don't want a full size truck... and even less so a Ford - there's a reason they can get that price for a Toyota.

and how many tundra's/4runners you see with that window down while driving? <1% since it sucks in the dirt like a vacuum cleaner. I should know since I drive with my back window down on my 4runner, but man does the dirt/dust accumulate like a sahara dust storm.

My son thinks the new Colorado looks like a smaller version of the Tundra.

You can say what you want about buying a full size Chevy or Ford truck instead. A friend stopped by yesterday with his 2006 bought when new GMC 3/4 2500 with a Duramax and only 110k in it. The rear bed supports are rusted through, the steel wells are ruste and the rockers have been repaired. He was advised to dump the truck. It is worth Zero and he is sick. Well, the Taco had frame rust problems but...you could spray oil on it and never worry. Just about every other area including over fenders and composite bed, the 2006 taco would still be going strong at 110 k miles and rust free. So, no truck is immune to rust and just buying the biggest one is no insurance you won't loose your ass. My Tacoma's have been so much easier to keep rust free there is no comparison. Give me a Duramax power Chevy or a diesel Ford and I will sell it and buy a gas Taco.....rust doesn't give a shit what the engine is around here.

yes, they sell a lot of them. no
there's a reason used tacoma's cost so much and used gm trucks are cheap.... a friend of mine wanted to buy a used truck for his daughter, and bought her a gm - however he told me he really wanted to get her a tacoma, but they were way too expensive. as i mentioned... there's a reason why they hold their value.

I believe there are several reasons. Quality, real or perceived...is only one. IMHO

IMO quality is by far and away the number one reason... (real or perceived, as you stated)

It is becoming apparent with you that you have a hard time reading between lines. The statement was made that there is a reason Toyota gets so much money for the Tacoma. My statement is implying that more F150's are sold in the US, meaning that they don't seem to have a hard time getting that price for their product.

I have seen a few in the wild now, and I am starting to think the same guy is designing trucks for multiple companies and platforms...hahaha.

dozens? that not very comforting to know you go thru vehicles like water. in roughly 30years of being able to drive I have had exactly 21 vehicles. 4 of those are actually the kids, and of the 17 left, 13 have been Toyotas between myself and the wife. all the rest were either domestics or others that made me come back to Toyota because of issues.

I'd rather take my chances with a Toyota since I know the track record with them from personal experience and from friends horror stories driving domestics.

    but that's just me, ymmv.
