We did road force balance them and recalibrated the balancing machine... They are smooth as glass until I get above 70. They balanced up "better than Prius tires" when we first mounted them as per Toyota tech buddy. I personally think the other jokers that work at Marietta Toyota beat the hell outta the balancing machine and its calibration is always off, but as stated, I will update when I get a chance to put them back on it. Thanks for the reply bud!

CStoy, just saw you have 225k miles on your truck. Quick question, do you ever seafoam the engine (using the brake booster line)?? Thanks

Anyone in areas with snow 9 months out of the year use these? I'm wondering how they will do in Utah snow..

Just put a set of these on my truck. I was coming from well worn Terra Grapplers, but the ride improved dramatically. They have a bit of road noise at highway speed, but not a deal breaker. One tire took 1/2g weight while the worst tire took 3.5g.

awesome in the snow. had 112 inches total this last winter and at some points i was the only vehicle that could make it up some of the roads. i had mastercraft winter tires before these on one of my trucks and the authoritys do better in every aspect other than road noise and absolute sheet ice(like roads covered in freezeing rain). theyr exelent on slush and deep powder and do very well even on ice.

    How often did you rotate?

possibly once... i pry would have gotten more miles out of them if i had rotated regularly. honestly tho 38k is pretty good for any reasonably aggressive tire IMO.

Definitely. I only ask because I rotate every oil change and with about 45k on them I still probably have another year of life left at the rate I'm going. At this point, as long as Walmart still carries them, there is no way I wouldn't buy them again.

ill be rotating the new ones regularly now...45k is good. i usualy replace at 4-5/32 though as im a stickler about tires...if i was willing to wear them to 2-3/32 before i replaced i think i could have got about another 5-8k.

Awesome review thread! From the posts I've seen, I wish I had put these on my truck back in 2011. Great thread Maticuno!

Thanks! I've been testing these side by side with Wrangler Duratracs on my work Tacoma and I think Goodyear made a mistake. The Authority should be their flagship A/T and the Duratrac should be their Walmart house brand. The Duratracs are louder, more squirrely on the pavement, wear faster, and have worse wet traction. I almost got stuck (sort of) in a drive through car wash yesterday in my work truck because the Duratracs couldn't hook traction on the wet concrete and get me over the locating hump in the car wash. I sat there spinning until TRAC kicked in and pushed power to the other rear wheel and finally bumped me over the hump.

I finally had my first unpleasant experience with these tires. Currently just shy of 50,000 miles. We had a bit of rain here in SoCal, and while entering an intersection, I pitched it sideways and drifted through and recovered into the lane I was originally aiming for. From the outside, this probably looked like I was a professional stunt driver and that I knew exactly what I was doing. From the inside, I'm glad I still had my kid's diaper bag in the truck with me.

Now, the majority of this was my fault for not being quite as judicious with throttle control as I should have for the conditions, since I had no other issues anywhere else that day once I kept my right foot in check. What this is, however, is the first time I've noticed a decrease in performance related to the age of the tires. With the predicted heavy rain this winter, I may be contemplating replacing these before they wear all the way down. Even still, if I do end up pulling the trigger, I will be buying the Wrangler Authority again.

Do you have a picture or tread measurement with your current mileage?
Looking for a replacement for my KO's and would like decent wet weather handling and light mud capabilities with a lighter tire (less than load range E), and these just might be the ticket.

50,000 miles on a set of tires that are that aggressive yet have good street numbers is nothing to sneeze at.
