I'm having a hard time deciding what to buy. I kinda have it narrowed down....

I haven't had a chance to drive the new Tacoma, but really love the 2nd gens. However, I cant bring myself to buy a 2015 with the 2016 out now (waiting to find one in person) so the 2015 Taco is an option, but bottom of my list.

I really like the 4Runner (just drove a '16 SR5, I know there was no change to last years).

I also drove the new Colorado...just don't like it as much as Toyota's, and it seems kinda big.

I can't make up my mind between a 4Runner and Taco. I def want a pickup or body-on-frame.

    Any thoughts? Advice? Thanks

The 2016 Truck is more practical overall and better gas mileage. Unless you have to haul a lot of people around frequently (kids, family, etc) I'd go with the truck. That's just me personally.

Same boat as you. I currently have a 07 DCLB pre, but do want a 4x4.. Truck is paid off, and we still making some payments on my wife's '13 CRV.

Was thinking about getting a DCLB OR 4x4, but wife only wants one car payment. If I do pick up a 4runner, we will keep my truck, and sell the CRV. If I can roll into a new truck, then who knows... not really wanting 2 DCLBs...

If I grab a 4runner, it will be a trail or a Pro.

Well, I could live without the bed, but it would be nice to have...is that really the only difference between the two? Kinda of it is I guess, huh. haha.

Was mostly wondering if people who have had both had any thoughts on what they liked better.

get the SR5 premium instead of the regular SR5, but that just my opinion on the 4runner.

One can never have too many light bars.
Here's something to help your thought process. Do you have friends with trucks? If so go for the 4Runner and hit them up if you need a bed. If they're like my degenerate friends and all have cars, you will be asked to move all their shit all the time. So If you don't want that call every other week get the 4Runner. If you don't mind get the Taco!

pro is just a upscale SR5, trail has more off roading chops than the pro.

pro is actually slotted between the SR5 and SR5 Premium, but less than a Trail.

Depends too what you will be doing.. We just went camping in the mountains this weekend.. LB was filled to the camper height, and the front runner roof rack had stuff on it as well... I don't think I could do that with a 4 runner.. Wife has to start being a minimalist rather than taking the whole house up... lol

Oh, also, I noticed the '16 Taco grew a bit...double cab with short box has a length of 212". The 4 Runner is 190" (shorter than I thought). I like the idea of the shorter body for parking, maneuvering, etc..... but still, love the Tacos...lol...can't make my mind up.

Gas mileage basically the same as the Taco? I know they claim it is, but as an owner do you feel you get the 19/20 mpg combined they advertise.

It's Virginia and the tidewater area. 55 or 60 around here. At 80 I was hovering around 18.5-19

We have done this a couple of times before?. Regardless of how nice the new Taco is, the 4Runner is just a higher quality vehicle. My old 2004 was a much better vehicle then the 2015 and maybe better then the 2016 Taco I have no doubt. It's Apple and oranges. I would have a new 4 Runner over the Taco I bought last year. If I had the money. If you can afford it, but the 4 Runner, get a utility trailer like I did or borrow a truck. I have met NO ONE who did not absolutely love their 4 Runner while I have met many who were neutral about their Taco, having bought them more for reliability then performance.

If calamity strikes, I would want a 4 runner.....
