I am in Central Texas. We have a close relationship with a car dealership, and I want to know if he is doing right by me, I am retiring my 2002 Toyota Tacoma and want a new forever truck.

So I have two questions. Do you think this is a good truck combination? I really love the color orange. Is this a good deal? From what I understand this is the "drive off the lot" price so I think it includes taxes.

I am looking to buy a
2016 Toyota Tacoma TRD Offroad 4x4 V6 LB (7568) (Inferno)
    Addons:
    Technology Package with JBL
    Orange Trim Dash
    Orange Stitching in Seat
    Tow Package ($$)
    Door Sill / Mats ($$)
    Mudguards

The dealer wants $40,467.60, to drive off the lot.

    Thank you so much!

    Missed the location.. :anonymous:

What's the sales tax? Do you have a cost breakdown for each item?

that's like straight up MSRP or so.

DCLB 4x4 TRD offroad is 34340 msrp. tow is 650, prem and tech on top of that etc... after fees and tax thats probably only a little under MSRP or so.

Try the thread thats a sticky with the pricing.

To give you an idea i have a DCLB TRD Offroad 4x4 prem/tech non JBL with tow and all weather mats ordered. I'm planning on getting it for no more than $39,000 maximum out the door... likely less or i'll walk.

So that would be a good deal? I should pursue that as the price I would pay?

Does "Out the door" include taxes usually?

I have been around the forums, especially the sticky one and it looks like 37,000 would be a good price but then I see people paying more and I'm not so sure. He said that price "$40467" was low.

I doubt it is true OTD. It is probably before TTL. Stick to your guns, and if that is true OTD, then it is an ok deal.

May be difficult on a new model, but try to find what the dealer invoice price was. Start with that and scratch off any additional mark-ups they try to get you to agree to.

See if you have any Costco auto programs in your area. I got all my addons for Invoice price and the truck for $500 over invoice. Don't pay MSRP!

Just guessing, but I assume invoice is around 33-35k. Maybe another 3-4k for TTL, so top dollar would be 36-39k.

I encourage you to go to the thread with the invoice pricing listed.

For instance: I have a similar truck ordered. You have a few more add ons. My MSRP is $38,399. The invoice is $35,486. Holdback is something like $686 or so? So even if I split the difference is look for something like $36,600 then tax tags etc.

Just go do some math and see how low they will go. Be ready to walk unless you will pay what they want

Invoice on the vehicle is roughly $36,000 (I say this because I do not have pricing in my program for the floor mats and mud guards yet)

    MSRP is roughly $39,000

    See below for build specs
    [IMG]

If I do the tax at 8.25 in texas with $300 in fees you are roughly at $39,220.00.

Looks like you are paying at invoice or a little over invoice. Yes, its a good deal to someone coming in off the street but you may be able to get them just a little lower. I wouldn't push your luck though and lose out on that price with this being a fully redesigned vehicle.

Texas tax is 8.25? Ouch. That threw my ballpark guess off.

Some places in Texas are 8.25. I was just using the highest tax in Texas to cover all the bases.

Here in Orange County its 8% and in Los Angeles its 9% :(

It sounds like a good deal for the time being. In 6 months maybe not such a great deal. These will come down in price once the demand and buzz wears down a bit and inventory builds up.

If you are paying invoice for a Tacoma (any year) you are getting a good deal. Even with my buying power and my relationships with dealers across the nation sometimes I am only paying $200-$500 below invoice on an out of stock purchase. Factory orders are a different story.
