Hi, I've noticed a lot of posts that people mention they are getting oil changes at higher miles (8-10,000 miles) than the local oilery I go to says. I think they recommend every 3000 miles?! I just get the basic oil change at Einstein's oilery. I've only gotten one oil change so far since I've only owned the truck about 6 months, I'm at 100,000 miles on it and I want it to last pretty much forever so any tips and recommendations on oil changes and even any other maint. are greatly appreciated!

5K is recommended for your Taco, with conventional oil.

I run full synthetic and change mine at 10K. Have 130K miles on my 07 4X4 and running strong. I will be doing an oil analysis at the next oil change to see how the oil and engine is doing.

I run synthetic and change my oil every six months. Have 90k miles on it and it runs just fine.

I will be using the recommended oil change intervals, if under the mileage, I change at 6 months. And no synthetic. No need too, since I'm a city driver and some longer trips. I'd run synthetic 'IF' I was into off road, 4WD, 4000 rpm trying to climb a friggin big ass rock and 5k miles in 6 months at rough rock work. And spend $ lots more on repairing the stuff that breaks. Then it matters.

Depends on your needs, your usage. Folks have run 250k miles on just regular oil.

Get a sticker for the most expensive oil and place it on your dash, maybe on the brake pedal. Your the best!:boink: Oil fanbois.

Disclaimer: I average under 6k a year in quiet 50 mph zones. Sometimes I get on the highway and do 80 to the mall area for the wife. 10-12 times a year.

Not a fanboy and not getting into oil brand wars.

I ran dino oil at 3K intervals on every vehicle I owned until we moved to Alaska. I changed to synthetic on new or low mileage used vehicles when purchased due to the periods of sub-zero temps and winter driving conditions we experience.

    Lighten up, Pal.

I run synthetic 0w-30 with either an OEM or Mobil1 filter, change at 7500-8000.

You are in Alaska, of the cold and dark. Depends on your needs. You are different. And brave to live in such a place.

Have a nice day before it's dark.

Regular or synthetic, but there is zero reason to change the oil every 3000 miles. Min. should be every 5,000 but if you go with a quality synthetic you could stretch that to 7500 or 10,000. Synthetic has benefits other than extended miles, it will protect better than regular in every comparison you can think of. If you do it yourself buying synth. oil will be about the same price as having the dealer do a regular change, maybe even a little cheaper. This truck is the easiest DIY oil change of any vehicle I've ever owned.

FWIW ... I was going for 10K when I first starting using synthetic up here 13 years ago. The oil on the dip stick got so very black around 7500 miles that I wasn't comfortable with the look of it, so I backed down to 5K intervals. I get that the color means the oil is doing it's job, but I'd never seen oil get that black in any vehicle I owned. 5K is my personal comfort level, and completely just my opinion.

EDIT: And I think the 3K interval is way back old school standard. Oil (dino or syn), as well as filter, technology has made significant advances over the last 30 or 40 years.
