Norcal Spotted and BS Thread

I'm always down to help out a fellow TW member with installs. I just rearranged my garage a bit, so i can pull a whole truck in and be able to work on front and back at the same time, but i can fit half a truck in and do one side and then the other . I was tentatively going to host another Mod day st my house this weekend, but didn't get much response because of short notice. I will probably set up another one for sometime next month, once i can figure out a weekend I am off and get everyone out here

I just stumbled across the All Pro "LOLA" suspension kit, a little bit more than the Icon stage 2 but it caught my eye. Decisions decisions.

My wife told me I needed a new hobby, so I told her I was going to start getting the truck ready to do some trails. She was very excited until I started going through the costs with her.

 

You should do a comparative cost analysis with something really expensive and with more risk, like mob debt.

 

They never think the cost is worth it!

Let me know when you get whatever kit, I can install just about anything that doesnt require welding! I was considering the LOLA suspension but Ive been meaning to call @allpro and find out if those Fox shock are extended travel or not. Not quite worth it if they arent. And before anyone jumps in about making them extended travel, i have a story.

Picked up some used Fox 2.0 with resis and cdcs a while back, went to Downsouth Motorsports to get them rebuilt, come to find out they are some off the wall build that All pro did for a specific mid travel build and they cant be converted to extended travel. So i was kinda screwed. Lessons learned, BUY SHIT NEW.

 

Let me guess.. they'll be up for sale for $400.

Much appreciated. I'll call them tomorrow while I'm at work and ask some questions about them. The kit looks good but like you said, if they have no travel it's not worth the coin.

Have you tried customizing a mid-travel kit on @Downsouth Motorsports website? Might be able to do better for a similar cost

In other news, i saw 3 new Tacomas rolling off the truck at Sunnyvale Toyota yesterday. Front end doesn't look as bad in person but that grill is still awful.

BOOOOOOOOOO WORST ADVICE EVER!

No but really, don't just buy what seems flashy or what you might think you need, do alot of research first and look up reviews and builds of people that have what you're looking at and see how they like it and how the ride is on and offroad. Alot of people get a kick ass offroad suspension to use twice a year but hate how it rides on the road

Thank you both for the honest advice. Believe me I'm looking around. I was looking at the Billy 5100s as well, maybe I'll start there and save the money for something else.

if you do things right that usually means you start to add lots of weight. a full expo setup could find you at 6000-7000 lbs easy. so your first set of 5100s or omes will get you the trail with a set of sliders, you'll need to change spring rates anyway when you go to plate bumpers and skids.

so keep in mind what you want vs what you're realistically going to use. i mean, if you're gonna put on fancy suspension, you want your rig to be roughly completed already instead of putting wear on it with highway driving that would've been fine w/ the cheaper options.
