I don't understand the popularity of the Sport.

For the last gen they got all the TRD stuff except the traction advantages (better seats, outside temp display, bed outlet, Bilstein shocks). Not to mention no chrome!

Having said that, if I were going to buy a 2016+, I'd get a DCLB TRD Off Road.

If that is including all taxes and fees then it looks like a good deal to me (IF you live in a state with normal sales taxes on cars like between 5-10%)

I, for the life of me, will probably never understand why A) Someone wants carpet floor mats to begin with or B) would pay a dime extra for them.
That is the first thing I'd tell a dealership to take the fuck off the price tag. It probably costs Toyota $20 to make those things and they charge some outrageous price for them. I took mine out of my truck 9 years ago. Most pointless thing ever, GTFO.
    Rant over...

My truck has rubberized flooring and it's perfect for mud and snow. Easy to clean up. Aesthetically may not be as pleasing to those who daily drive but to tell you the truth I don't even notice it anymore.

If you order the vehicle you can have them taken off. You can also just have them take them out.

That is honestly better for trucks. I buy all my own floor mats anyways and replace them as they age (or cooler GB Packer ones come out). The carpeted ones are literally useless since I know most people buy the all weather mats to go over them anyways.

We told Honda to take out the door protectors and floor mats "extras." They refused. We just left. Honda was by far the worst buying experience of any make

Never bought a Honda but Subaru was the same. You tell them to take that shit out and the reply is "it's attached to the VIN number, we can't take it out". *eye roll*
I was told by Toyota that they would just remove it no problem. Same with Ford. Ford is probably the best in terms of customization. Almost all of their features can be added independently to any trim. If the truck doesn't have it, they'll dealer install a lot (and not for more than what the sticker add on for that feature is). You want a tailgate step? No problem, they switch the tailgates out LOL.

YEP....the buying frenzy is on . These tacomas are selling like hot cakes. There is no motivation for dealers to give big discounts. If you wait till say next June/July 2016 when most likely the buying frenzy will be over with you can get a fully loaded TRD 4x4 Sport/OR DC OTD for maybe 36,500 to about 37,000 By then you will have a lot of dealers with overstock and they will need to get them out of their inventory and get ready for the 2017 tacomas.

Yeah, one of the first things I did is buy Weathertechs and give away the carpet floor mats to a coworker with a Tacoma. So much better! My carpeted ones would absorb water all winter and turn into muddy frozen hunks of fabric.

Take that deal from them and agree to pay 98% of the deal they want to give you. That will get you their holdback and leave a little for them at the end of the quarter

It depends on what the dealer says. They don't want you to know anything about holdback. It gives them room to play slightly under MSRP and still make money on the deal. But if you are able to buy the car right now, they don't need make much money on the deal. It's business. You need to pay as little as you can.

They may become afraid of you and get mad when you start talking about dealer holdback. If they do, just tell them you don't need a truck from them. You will find someone who will play with holdback with you. These trucks won't be flying off the lots in a week or two when they start showing up in droves.

Be sure they don't try to stick you with any TDA fees after the sale is agreed upon. They may say they have to charge TDA or Toyota will bring legal action upon them... that's BS. You only NEED to pay the Destination fee of 900 dollars per the LAW.
