So since both my wife and I are working we put down 0 deductions and flip it over to fill out the Two Earners worksheet to figure out how much extra to take out of each pay check.

I have $3600 in line 8 for 2015. It says to divide that by the number of pay periods left in the year. I get paid weekly so it's 15. $3600/15 = $240. But say if I filled this out at the start of the year there would be 52 pay periods so $3600/52 = ~$70. I don't understand why I would put $240 instead of $70. If I had not paid taxes all year and had been working all year it would make sense, but I'm just starting. If I do put $240 then they will take $240 out of each pay check next year (unless I ask to redo the W4) and they will take out $12,480 for the year instead of the $3600 that the form asks for... It doesn't make sense to me:confused:

You should do one for this year and re-do it the beginning of next year. Doing tax forms only work best when accounting for a whole year.

You said the number will be way off $70 vs $240 - did you take into account being paid the whole year next year vs only part of this year?

So when using Table 1 and 2 should I base it off of what I will make for the remainder of the year? I guess that would even it out more. I based it off of my annual salary in my offer letter.

If I do that it won't change Table 2 since it will still fall into the lowest bracket, but it would change Table 1.

He gets frustrated when Simeon wiggles - thinks he's doing it on purpose. Hard to get fast, when he keeps undoing what you just did :notsure:

That would change the amount to $40 per pay check. haha

I'm thinking I'll just put $70 like I calculated normally. Leave it to the government to make things more complicated than they need to be...

Seems crazy that I have to claim 0 deductions and ask them to take extra money out of each paycheck to make taxes! I would say I need to have some kids to get some deductions, but they'll cost more money than that. haha

I claim single and 0 and still have to have extra taken out and the only reason I don't owe, is my house. When the interest, etc gets down lower, I'll have to increase again what I'm having taken out  :annoyed:
