I added this after you read it.

Be sure they don't try to stick you with any TDA fees after the sale is agreed upon. They may say they have to charge TDA or Toyota will bring legal action upon them... that's BS. You only NEED to pay the Destination fee of 900 dollars per the LAW. All vehicles must be charged an equal destination fee so people that live near production plants don't get special deals on shipping. The Destination fee of 900 a legal charge

Also, that Invoice price listed in the Price sticky is a Base Invoice. Most dealers don't pay that for their Tacoma. If they sold into a tier the month before, their invoice was lower than that. Very few people at a dealership know what they paid for that truck.

Just start spouting off all these words, holdback, advertising fee, destination fee, invoice, sell tier.. and they will know you know what you are talking about. If they tell you otherwise, they are lying

Fair price or not, it's still hard for me to fathom a $40k Tacoma off the lot, regardless of the options. Sounds like a really nice package. Hope you can work something out!

Mine is the exact same build - only difference is accessories where I'm getting the floormats. Mine is around $37. I posted the quotes/details in another thread. This is Colorado, going through a broker. Basically $1400 off MSRP and a few reduces "dealer fees".

That's getting into Base Invoice price... See, that invoice isn't what they paid for it.

40k for truck good lord. If I was looking to spend that much I would get a full size or huge diesel pusher.

But why would you get a full size if you didn't want a full size?

I preferred the Sport aesthetically and only need a Street truck... I would have bought a 2WD Limited but I did not want the chrome bits or the 18" wheels. The Sport is a true Street truck and the 4x4 Sport good for snow days for those who have them. That is why I chose the Sport...

Start with $300 above invoice......If they insist on MSRP you have a decision to make.

My Internet guy told me the truck was being sold at $189 over invoice. I originally offered $500 above invoice including the fees. Fees were $349 You have to know I bought three trucks (including the 16) from them in the past year......Used 14 Tacoma with 19K for $26000...traded that and another $4000 for a new 15 a few days later.

They offered only $26K for my 15 so I sold it privately in a day on CL for $27900. I lost a few bucks in the process. But I am making up for it with the deal on the 16. Great dealer, great service. I bought six vehicles from them over the years,

He was matching another dealer who was a tad BELOW invoice. But I wanted my local dealer to get the sale and good will. So I offered $500 above invoice.

I gave a $500 deposit and as long as there are no shenanigans when the truck gets here I will go forward with the deal as is and probably buy some dealer options to throw them a few bones. If they had a decent finance rate I would finance it but I don't think SET financing is very good. However I can get 1.5% at Pentagon Federal Credit Union. I will look into that after taking delivery. May refinance a portion.
