I know, but it's weird because I never even gave them any info on who we were! I just called anonymously. Although maybe caller ID led to them finding our past purchases in the computer super fast while we were talking? Either way though, it is really cool. :) Stuff like that goes a long way to securing long term repeat business from happy customers. :)

Eric was reading about those sensors in the tires this morning, and he asked a few questions of the Schwab guys last night about how it all works. Apparently each tire has one of those sensors, and they are $65 each to replace!! I wonder if they have to be replaced when you get new tires? Regardless, there's really no way to avoid it - I'm guessing all the cars made in the last 5-10 years probably have something like that. It's just a bit of a technology shock coming from a '93 Civic!!

Our appt w/Honda to have the fluids changed is this weekend, so we'll ask them what we need to know/do in the future about the tire sensors/warning light/etc. I know the Schwab guy said sometimes the pressure changes slightly with weather changes, which then triggers the light. Eric was reading that the system can be programmed for winter mode and summer mode or something like that? And I remember noticing in the history of this Civic that the previous owner was having them rotated very regularly at Honda. Wondering if she was having them program it for changes in seasons on those visits.......

Anyone have any words of wisdom for me about these low tire pressure warning lights from their own experiences? After ignoring the CEL in the Taco last fall, we are a little paranoid about any warning light, especially in a car we just got and owe a small fortune on. I guess I'm just trying to figure out if it's sort of an overly sensitive system with the tire sensors/warning light - meaning, if we should truly address it immediately when the light comes on, or if it's OK to ignore til it's convenient to deal with it type thing.

No matter what though, I'll take a tire warning light over a check engine light ANY DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Hard to believe it's almost the 1 year anniversary of that whole fiasco!!! Wow. I guess time flies when you're having fun? The engine part and starting problems were NOT fun, but the TW time was!! ;) And the final conclusion to the starting problem was damn near miraculous!! :cookiemonster:

trust me on this Jen, ANY business that deals with YOU, remembers that experience forever , your name and phone number are probably posted on their wall lol :gossip:

that said, they might just warranty that brand of tire no matter what if they are a tire distributor for them.
just remember the numbers are not accurate and change randomly every time you start the car so just use it as a "guide" and don't "freak out" because the tires or even just one tire keeps reading something different from the pressure you set it to. only if you see it change like over a 5 lbs pressure difference should you feel the need to pull over and check it. also the tire pressure changes from hot to cold so outside temps and just driving makes the pressures change. this is one technology that should just have an "idiot" light rather then show air pressures because it makes worriers (do you know anyone like that?) too much info to think about and imagine problems where there are none.

they don't need to be replaced unless they go bad so its not like a valve stem you replace when you buy new tires but, its easy to break them if a tire guy isn't careful so many choose to put new ones rather then risk finding out after a new set of tires that the sensor quit working or is leaking air. all it really is, is a pressure gauge that is on wifi to be read by your cars computer to tell you if your getting a flat, that's all its for.

my rule of thumb is, the factory sensors are better then anything else you can buy to replace them so I would never replace them just for the hell of it because your likely just putting in cheaper crappier parts to replace it.

Alright, time to change the title of the thread. Been meaning to do it for some time, considering the amount of stuff we talk about on here that has all of ZERO to do with the title!! But what though? As you all know by now, I am not exactly a genius at condensing my words/thoughts  Gonna need some :help:

"Engine swap, piston hole, failed spark plugs, starting problem resolved by brilliant dealer tech, I have a new appreciation for the important role fuel injectors serve that I never thought I'd have, dead Civic replaced by another Civic, fences, gazebos, smartphones, garages, J & B vs. Buffalo Trace, crab cakes/moonshine N'orleans style, cinnamon rolls, truck cookies, top notch tire service rocks, the great Prius debate, wheel bearings, snakes & lizards of Colorado, Oregon is beautiful, headlight restoration, split CV boots, how to rustoleum your topper with a roller, Bigfoot's taint, cosmic spiders, and general BS" is probably a little bit too long of a title......

:help: - officially taking suggestions for new title!! Help me out here guys!! :D

If you change the thread's title we won't recognize anymore, everyone knows this title.

But if you must change it I suggest "Snakes and Spiders"

just be aware, if you change the name too much, it will no longer apply to this forum and will get moved to the general discussion section and die there.

we joke about the name a lot but once the thread title no longer applies to the forum name that its posted in, it WILL get moved

Nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! We can't let it die. That would be very, very sad. :(

TW buddies forever! Because, surely at some point, I will have another actual TACOMA related problem that I'll need help with

well changing it is fine, I don't think they care if the thread goes somewhere else as long as the thread creator (you) don't complain, but you still have to keep the title on topic as first gen stuff not BS stuff, remember its not intended for general BS, its about 1st gen Tacoma forum posts.

personally I would like it to read "Hard Warm Start, Extended Cranking after Engine Swap 3.4L 5vz - SOLVED! Post 2853 > Leaking Injectors"

because you want someone out there struggling with your same hard warm start issues to know they can find a solution for it here.

I dunno. It would be just plain, evil titling this thread with the intention of posting a solution to hard, hot starts. Making someone wade thru 6k+ post just to find out that they only needed to change out the injectors, yet having to do all that reading. That's just too, cruel.

I do believe that you should have a thread that is seriously aimed at the solution to those hard starts. Leave this one for the random, fucking around...and you know there will be plenty of that!

But jen has the sloved post number listed in the title so peeps at least know the solution, Without having to tolerate all our crap for the last several months, lol!!

    I like this idea

if not, then your not really helping the next poor shmuck figure out wtf is going on with their truck, that's why I don't like the title as-is because its no where near offering help to someone searching for hard warm start issues

If you are going to start a new thread, make it so google can find it quickly.

If someone else is having the same problem, what are they going to type in? Most likely or similar to: "Tacoma starts very hard when warm" or "why does my V6 Tacoma start hard when warm?"

If you toss in a Utube vid, you could get so many hits google will want to give you royalties to the advertisement. It could happen.

Just the other day I was on one of the Tundra forums, a question was asked why his 3.4 liter Tundra started hard when warm. I responded it could be the injectors. (first gen Tundra's used the same V6). There was no way I was gonna link this thread.

I like this idea. I love thinking of what we went through helping others, and would love to do what I can to make it as accessible as possible for people.

Like Bryan mentioned, I added the solution post # to the title in hopes it would help speed up the search process for others with same problem, but even still, I do feel that the info is buried awfully deep amongst a whole lotta other crap.

To me, the most helpful hard start solution info is in noahpete's posts, which are obviously on this thread. So if I start a new thread, all I've got is me explaining what happened, right? Can I "quote" his posts in a new thread focused solely on hard starts?

2 browsers open, copy and paste from original to new thread. I don't see it taking very long at all. As long as everyone gets credit, you won't have any issues.

Hmm, I'm gonna have to disagree about it not taking very long. It's just that instead of someone else spending the time, this would mean that I'm the one who would spend the time going back through 6K posts (most of which are my own ramblings, during quite a tumultuous time! :lalala:) and find the ones that are actually worthwhile!! Sounds like a fairly daunting task!!

Seriously though, I'll give it some thought and see what I can do. Maybe I can try to put together a brief opening post of what happened for a new thread. Wait, did I just say "brief post"?

I definitely like the idea of feeling "home free" to continue BS-ing on here, while knowing that the important info that could actually be really helpful to others is somewhere else, that is much more easily accessed.
