Thinking 255/80 or 285/70... DCLB with plate bumpers and winch also a loaded toolbox.
Going to run 8.5" wheels also

    If I went 18" wheel
    275/70

Unsure on what I want still.

If you buy them by tonight you can get $200 off through discount tire on eBay.

I know, I have been thinking about that. I have 2 in my cart (2 x 2 tires). But just unsure if I want 255 or 285

Gotcha, I've always had 285's and love them but they are wide and require a bit more trimming and more rolling resistance. Figure I can buy the 255's and go back to a 285 easy enough but going to a 255 is harder to find. I think I will really like them and the extra height will be nice.

    Well I'm already cleared for a 285 lol. Well a 275/60. 33"x11"
So I know i won't have any problem with the 255/80. Just in some pictures they look really skinny and others they look perfect

I have all-pro Uniball UCAs, OME 3" with 887 and full Dakars out back.
But hub to fender up front I only have 22" and out back I have 24"... Wonder if I should add a top spacer. My truck just doesn't look as tall as other tacomas

"extremely loose sand mud or snow" is what I said.

If it doesn't swallow an axle, it isn't loose enough to require a wide tire. So yes, in most instances tall n skinny is better for snow. But, the instance I was referring to is very loose snow. It is perhaps a rarity, but still an occasion. In my experience driving on ice and thick to mild snow, these tires have been stellar in my 255/85/16 configuration.

Yes but if the snow is deeper than the frame rails or diff, you wont reach ground.

Well the snow can be extremely loose and as long as its not too deep and the tires can reach solid ground then skinnys will work. Its not really a matter of loose ground but more of how deep the loose stuff is.

Stacked spacer lift, 22x12 wheels with stretched 33's, tow mirrors, bull nuts.
Hit up Moab again, this time got into some mud and deep silt as well as the rocks and gravel. The Maxxs performed great once again, got a tiny bit of chunking on both passenger side tires but seeing what happened to my buddies K02's from the same spot made me like the Coopers even more. He nearly sliced off a couple lugs while mine just had some small chunks and cuts.

Thank you for telling me Mr Missouri. I'm sure I don't need any snow lessons since I've learned them all the hard way growing up here in Wyoming.

Sry, only just noticed the question.

I am stock height (first gen) and the only rubbing was front mud flaps and fender liners.. a tiny bit on the pinch weld when flexing but that's really it. I've put 6000 miles on the tires on highway in all conditions, as well as offroading in Moab, Cali, and the East coast/Mid West.

Yes, I do have stock gears, 4.10 to be exact. Feel free to ask me any more questions. I have an OME kit sitting in my garage waiting to be put on so I'll give updates on my situation sans approx 2.5" of lift!

I know this thread is biased for the ST MAXX obviously

Seriously considering this tire, but I also seen the Goodyear Wrangler Duratrac. It's a real aggressive deep tread all terrain as well. Just not as many ply and weighs less
