O/D Stands for "Overdrive". When you press that button, it turns the Overdrive off, essentially keeping your vehicle out of overdrive, and in a lower gear.

    1. you can take it off road.
    2. it will work, never as well as a 4wd but it may surprise you. Take a friend to pull you out.
    3. What button are you pressing?
    4. What does the thing on the dash look like?

Because you or someone pushed the button. You can turn in back on by pressing the O/D button on your shifter.

When you press the O/D off button, the Over Drive will be turned off.. thus indicating you on the dash by lighting up, O/D OFF.

    4th gear*

The button the side of the shifter will turn off your O/D gear so you only run in 3rd gear. Used for towing or hauling up steap grades to keep your trans from gear searching. You have a lock up clutch in your trans that locks up your 4th gear. With O/D off, it will lock up your 3rd gear.

@Thacaptin, leave O/D on (no light on the dash) for normal driving as it will give you the best milage. Turn the O/D off (light on the dash) if you are driving in a very hilly road, have a load in the bed, or are towing.

Moral of the story, don't press random buttons. However ask questions and research so you can learn what the buttons are and they will no longer be random buttons but useful buttons!

Just a trim option. Means you have cooler standard features than the non SR5 truck.

Just a tip, read your owner's manual before asking these questions. It's very helpful
