Well post your problems after your frame was replaced. Hopefully those picking up trucks will test those items immediately.
    1. Transmission shift indicator range screwed up (Toyota fixed after the visit)
    2. No 4wd ..... Thats a complete nothing no light not a peep nothing ... (will check but after a month not sure if dealer will honor this)

So I wanted to do my monthly 4wd Lubrication, turned switch and got nothing.... not even a blinking light. Truck feels naked like pre-runner.
    This is such a BS...
Post your problems after frame replacement.

    Ya no way.
I am too old to drive under powered trucks with Camry engine build out of Made in China components, and transmission from Supra, put toghether in Mexico. I like my Japanese cars to be build in Japan.. US is as far I go from Japan.
If I wanted something slow I can always drive my kids 50 cc moped build in South Korea. many people would be thrilled, it has no power but it does 100 MPG.
Plus getting 3rd would not solve frame rust problems.
I will find the reason why 4wd is not engaging, this weekend supposed to be nice weather, so troubleshooting electrical gremlins is going to be fun. I bet they left some cable not plug in.

    The better coast
4wd not working? Looks like you need a roll caget. It's the only way.

Are you going to take it back to the dealer if you find something or just do it all yourself?

New engine is only down 1 Ft-Lbs of torque, but up 40 hp.
New engine is made in the USA and Canada, from globally sourced components.
The new transmission has never been in a Supra
Trucks assembled in Mexico, are built using robots that are running the same programming as the robots building the Tacoma in other countries.

This is now fixed. I disconnected transfer case, reconnected, then pulled fuse and it started working. Fuse had marks like lightining had strike that thing, very wierd but it was still good.
now 4wd works again like a charm.
It looks like when they disconencted things they created sme kind of short that put the mark o nthe fuse but did not blew it.
I checked current draw just in case...
    Going into 4HI
    IN4Hi_current.jpg
    Going into 4L
    IN4L_current.jpg
Going Out of the 4L and 4Hi produces the same numbers. So not much current than again I use my 4wd so often that it has no problems switching while truck is parked.
For now I am going to leave it just have spare fuses handy.

If it was something big that I need to spent money on a lot of parts I would as dealer but I dont like going to dealer for anything. In 9 years my truck had been in dealer only handful of times. I do my own maintenance.

I wish they were still built in Japan also. Quality has really gone downhill.

What year did they stop building the Tacoma in Japan?

Its in the cabin fuse box. One of the 20 Amp fuses.

Yeah, because its summer and I am painting new frame so I need to keep it clean until is done, If new frame weren't as much crap as old one was i could have taken truck somewhere.
BTW new frame is made by Metalsa in Mexico, just like old frame on my 07, And just like my 99 frame was. All made in Mexico so talking about quality from there is hilarious...
They could not make frame correctly in Mexico for past 20 years but you think buying whole truck made there is good idea ? Crazy.
New 2gr engine, looks to be modified 2gr-fse. Its a car engine in a truck...
Will people buy it, yeah, because there are a lot of people who don't think

How does it make one stupid for purchasing the new Tacoma? The smaller engine is more efficient. The smaller size has less internal friction, and the same/more power. Seems kinda "smart" to me......

I did not bring into dealer, I worked on it myself :)
I did not think yours would be the same problem, I am telling you most likely you have front actuator stuck. Bring to dealer but if they start tossign parts and charging you I would check front actuator motor. Our trucks are known to have problem with it.

I believe it was 1995 (pre Tacoma).
My 95 non-branded no name 4x4 truck was a 1995 with a vin of JT
It is still on the road today even here in the ol' salty roads of Vermont.
I see it all the time! :annoyed:
