Just purchased a brand new Tacoma prerunner sr5 in late July. Already having issues with the notorious dash rattle on passenger side and a new one behind the steering wheel... Anyone else experiencing the same issue or had it resolved?

I have a 13 and mine has a rattle/squeak in the center of the dash. Same as my 04 did. From what i have heard it was a common problem on the first gen, dont know about these 2nd gens. Mine started like a few months after i bought it.

I've seen a few threads on here for people with previous year tacomas getting a kit installed to kill the rattle but I don't think Toyota has recognized this as a problem in the 2015 yet. Its driving me crazy!!! I have no trust that the techs at my dealership will take care of this either

check that stupid change holder for the one behind the steering wheel. it is the cup that covers the hole where the pull out emergency brake would be (this assumes you don't have the pull out emergency brake). there is an afterthought of a cup to cover the hole. it goes in with four clips in the back and two nubs that hold it up on the sides... I figured out that it was my main rattle and yanked on it hard toward the back of the truck... once out I took hockey table and covered the nubs and the clips and put it back in... seems to not rattle anymore. I still have rattles but about 90 percent less now.

My rattle is from the top center of the dash above the nav screen. If i push on it gently, it stops.

My 2008 rattles where the drivers side A pillar moulding meets the dash (right below the windshield, far left corner of the dash). When I took the pillar trim off to run some wire I was able to see/feel that front/top far left edge of the dash moves up and down. Whatever was used (if anything) to hold that down isn't doing it anymore so it just moves up and down making noise... Trying to figure out if I can wedge something in the gap or, more drastically, JB Weld to hold it in place...

I have a rattle behind the passenger side front airbag panel as pinpointed by my girlfriend when sitting in the passenger seat. When you are on very light throttle it is most audible and it actually sounds like a bubble bee which is quite annoying. When I brought it to the service center I bought my truck from brand new they said "no problem found, could no duplicate" and my radio had been changed to "the heat sirius/xm channel 47", the volume was turned up and the technician that "worked" on my truck also decided to raise the bass on the equalizer in the truck...

There are no notorious rattles. That's an Internet myth.

Plastic interiors make noise, they shift, they vibrate and the squeak. Hunt it down, try to fix it yourself or take it to
the dealer. If your motor blows up at 10k miles are you going to pay for that yourself? Or trust the idiots at the dealership who can't possibly find a dash rattle without breaking everything on your new truck to fix it under warranty?

    Please.

More idiots have touched your truck before you sat your ass in it for the first time than would be possibly working on the truck at the dealership.

Stuffed a 1/2 piece of pipe insulation foam between dash and windshield.

    Problem solved.

    ^^^ This.

I used a piece of 1/4" x 3/4" wide foam (about 12" long). I stuffed it between the dash and the window and the rattle went away.

I'm assuming you are a certified tech that no one trusts yourself and that is why you're so butt hurt over what was said then. And I would say that there are quite a few people with the same problem as mine so I wouldn't necessarily consider it a myth.

My 99 rattled. Dash was replaced twice. It stopped.

    My 2007 did not rattle.
    My 2008 did not rattle.

Hoping my 2015 does not start doing it.

My Outback had an annoying rattle that lasted a year before figuring out what it was. Seemed to come from the right side of the dash. Thought I had found a broken clip. Replaced, still rattled. Now it sounded like it was more in the center. Wife agreed.

Turns out it was my glasses in the overhead console. The whole time. I put 25k miles on that car in the first year and never isolated it.

    Let's start a count.

    That's 2, kinda. I'm more tempted to say 1.5.

No issues in my 15 yet. In my 01, a few rattles came and went. Some stopped after pressing on dash. One sounded like it weas in the dash airbag bin, it just showed up once in a while. Some of it seemed to be caused by colder temps and shinkage, perhaps.

I never once had a shitfit about it.
