Tool box and bolt on sliders. Last sliders were weld on. Thinking of resale on this one though.
Trying to decide how big of a box. My 1st gen had this box. Even with the extra battery and compressor in there I never filled it up. Thinking this same box would take up to much room in the already short bed. Pictured is the 60" version, I'd need the 63" version for the 2016.
They do offer a 'slim line' version. However they don't show measurements for it.

I'm also considering a Tonneau cover but have never been crazy about them.

May do some wiring mods, add a compressor under the hood, and more bed tie down points.
Had these in my 1st gen and still have some extra's. Very handy and needed in this bed.

What made you pick the OR vs Sports?

Do you now wish you had picked Sports?

He drives it off road. He doesn't want a Street Machine, I mean Sport.

Actually, the hood scoop and lack of MTS would certainly help him conquer the trails much easier.

Any noticible difference in mpg switching to KOs from Wranglers?

Have not driven it enough to get MPG readings. I suspect it will be different since the tires are bigger thus throwing off the speedo a little.

I picked the OR mainly due to it's suspension. Also the locker, no front air spoiler, larger rear diff, MTS, different braking system, etc etc.

I wish the features (MTS, locker) available in 4L could be used in 4H. I think it's the 'grey wire mod' on 2nd gens that allowed the locker to be used in 4H?

Awesome thread over all and grads to OP and the new truck...

I suspect that it's a safety issue not having locker engage at 4 Hi speeds. This (4h) is a snow country setting when traveling in snow in slippery conditons. The rear locker does create control issues on the back if you use it in these higher speed slippery conditons. This might not be true for you but in snow country, some "idiot" might use it driving too fast and you could see his name in the obits the next week. Unlike the electronic AIDS like ATrac and auto LSD which you can easily turn on and it turns off automatically and seamlessly as the speed increases, the Locker is a much more finicky mechanical and could easily damage it self and you at higher speeds. My manual cautions you to take it out once moving.

If someone does figure it out, that's the last mod I would want to do under warranty or other wise. I don't understand this fetish with a locking differential and the idea you need to use it much at all. It's an emergency, get out of jail free card which is most often 4 low and low speeds. and using any time you're in 4 hi is not the best time. This attitude is why so many trucks go off the road in snow.....bragadosia at work.:bananadead:

Nice truck! Looks much better with the more aggressive, slightly larger tires! I think once some aftermarket grille options come out I'll really dig it. It does concern me that you mention the hood being even harder to see over. That's one thing I don't like about my 2nd Gen already, if it gets worse.... fuuuuck.... lol Thanks for posting the review and pics!

I'm going to buy my first Tacoma soon, can someone tell me the difference between TRD Sport vs TRD Offroad?

TRD Sport is more of a Street truck with cosmetic additions turn signals in mirror assembly, and tuned suspension for a sporty ride.

OR has Bilstein Shocks and more off road bits like a rear locker, Crawl control (4x4) smaller rims. OR also has unpainted fender flares.

All 4 Tacos go off road very well. The sport truck has more styling cues then actual performance features like the OR has.

The suspension in the OR is preferred by some for better on road. Otherwise the features of each are available everywhere on this forum.

Highly recommend you decide what you will use your truck before you decide which features are most desirable.

Thanks guys, this truck is going to be my 100% daily driver. Would it be dumb if I bought the off road to daily drive? I'd maybe use it to offroad 1-2 a year. No snow in California but maybe 1 snow trip a year.

I have a off road as my daily as well. I would say get it even if you go wheeling on occasion. A friend of mine picked up a pre runner because he thought he wouldnt wheel a whole lot so now he's selling to get a 4x4.
