Taco down, watch out for Bambi

EXACTLY why I ordered a plate bumper. I almost smoked a deer tonight, it's only a matter of time before it happens, my luck it'll happen the day before I put the bumper on

 

they are barely noticeable

 

Same thing happened to me July 4, luckily not quite as bad as yours. My 3" lift saved the grill and headlights. My new bumper should finally be here around the end of the month.

 

Deer whistles are completely useless. Look into it.

 

I have looked into it, I'm telling you from my own personal experience, deer standing by the road ignoring other cars driving by look up as I approach

 

Coincidental.

They also look up randomly throughout the day. It's proven to be absolutely useless.

But I'm glad you like yours. I'm just stating fact, not debating emotions.

 

Deer whistles don't work in mule deer country. Don't know about the little midwest deer but the mule deer don't move for anything. I've seen just as much damage from them running into the sides of cars as I have from them being hit.

Bolt on brush guards are bad in deer county. They are damage multipliers.

 

Air powered whistles have been proven countless times to be 100% completely and absolutely useless. Electronic whistles have been proven countless times to be almost 100% completely and absolutely useless.

Like headlights, road noise, a horn honk, a stray fart, a stick being broken, a dry leaf being crushed, and any other random noise - deer look up to listen, and to look. Then they either remain in their position or they run away.

So, either they stand there or they run, and when they run they'll either go into the shoulder of the road or into your front bumper.

There is no more mystery to it. It's fight or flight and it has nothing to do with whatever you bolt to your vehicle.

 

Stopped by the bodyshop thats fixing my Taco, should be done next week. The first hood they ordered had a big dent in the center, the replacement is a couple days out.

Tough! we've got white tails too! but the big damage here is the mule deer, and mainly the wild hogs. It doesn't matter what hits the hogs its usually wiped out, they are very similar to a Brick Wall.

 

We used to go quadding SE of Corsicana when we lived near Dallas, I remember the hogs.....had a pack run out in front of us while on the trails, luckily we never met one on the road.
