New Rims Suggestions Please

Hi guys! i'm kind of new to this whole thing and wanted to get some rims for my 08 Taco. It's a white 4x2 double cab long bed pre-runner. I was thinking of the XD Series Revolver Rims or the XD Monster Rims . Not sure whether i should go 17's or 18's or if they will even fit. Suggestions and some tips will help greatly! thanks!

 

both are pretty sweet, cant go wrong either way. i like the pro comp 7089's though. i had moto metal 951's and liked them too. just my two pennies

 

were your rims 17's or 18's? and did you need a lift?

mine were 17x9 and i had them on 285/70/17 tires so yeah i needed a lift. but it was already lifted 3"

 

I like the revolvers. It doesn't come with 16, so I opted for the Hoss.

As far as will it fit? Add some more info of what you, so we can help you better.

What size of tires are you planning to put on?
Will you be lifting the truck?

Hmm. Well at the moment my truck isn't lifted at all. Its still at stock prerunner SR5 height. I'm thinking if i go with the 17's what size of tires would you recommend for me to get if i wanted a max lift of possibly 2-3 inches? Or whats the most efficient and economic way of lifting and getting those 17's Revolver's with some not too expensive tires. I hope what i am asking is correct because i don't know a thing about tire size, wheel size and required lifts. All your answers are very helpful and very well appreciated!

Meteoraman. Did your tires rub the wheel wells?

 

With 2.5-3" lift, biggest tire you can put is 33" (285/70/17). You'll need a 17x8 wheels, the backspacing I think should be 4.5" to clear the UCA. But I think some still clear with 4.75". Some are running 17x9, but I don't know the BS. There is a need to do some trimming of front fender liners. If you don't want to trim, go with 32" (265/70/17).

For the economical lift, most will recommend replacing your front shocks with Bilstein 5100 set at 2.5". Check out for more options.

Do some searching. You'll be amazed the tons of information in this site.

XD Monsters don't come under 18". If you weren't thinking about getting a lift then you should consider the tire/rim ratio. Do you like to see more tire or rim?

 

i'd actually like to see a little more tired than rim.

 

If you wanna see more tire then you should get a lift and so that you can fit ~33" tires because w/o a lift the biggest you can fit would be 265's.

 

I got the revolvers in an 18" on a 285/60/18 tire. Here's a pic for you...

Whatever you do don't get the Revolver's. I'm getting a set when I get home and I don't want a lot of people to have them. J/k. I think either will look great on your taco. I know it's a hard decision because it's taken me like 6 months to decide. good luck.
