Does your Silverado have a driveline vibe problem? My boss hates his '14 because of it, and is eyeing a Taco based on how mine turns out.

I found out more info on here than I did through Toyota. Still no information other than new car features on TIS. Figured they would give an e-module before launch. Being a tech I'm the first guy who will see any problems but probably won't even have driven one by that time.

There is a TSB that came out the other day for shift flare on the 4cyl trucks. We haven't gotten them yet at our dealer but I like try to reflash the ones I can during PDI if I get them, just like radio updates

Well mine was built in Mexico on the 12th. So, it is what it is.

    Irony...
2nd Gen owners here who are complaining that the 3rd Gen did not have enough new changes and other than the ugly grill the truck is essentially the same. Those same owners not willing to spend any money on the 2016 because they are not sure that the truck will work.

Mine was a Crew Cab Long Bed 4x4 Z71 w/everything and it was fine. Thge only vibration issue it had was on certain sections of concrete highway it got a harmonic going with the grooves but to be fair my '04 Tundra got that as well but not until I moved the tire size up +2 which IIRC was the same size as the Silverado. The Silverado was totaled in late July - I was dead stopped out on the highway in a construction zone, 5th person back, while a truck exited into the construction zone. I got rear ended by a Ford Explorer going 55+ MPH who never touched his brakes.

Say what you want about Chevy - that truck performed like a champ in that accident. I rolled off to the side, popped the seat belt and walked away. I have ongoing back issues but in the grand scheme of things ... not too bad. The frame was bent behind the rear axle, behind the cab, the cab was twisted slightly, the drivers seat was bent on the frame, the seat belt retractors deployed (thank God), the bed bent all over the place, OnStar was activated called in emergency services and had a human on the line before I stopped moving and called in emergency services. OnStar knew I was alone in the truck based on the sensors but still confirmed I didn't have another passenger, told me to roll down the windows to clear the smoke from the seat belt retractors deployijng, told me the car was still movable, told me they had my gps and had already spoken to State Highway patrol who would be there in 3 minutes. Frankly, from end to end it was an amazing display of modern vehicle engineering at work. I was never really in love with that truck and it was just too big - I was already thinking about the '16 Tacoma and after that decided to do it. But, I do wish that OnStar was available in all vehicles after that experience. My experience and my 2 centavos. YMMV.

Follow up to the drive line issue. I think it was definitely related to tire size and specific road conditions since the Silverado and Tundra both had it but only on certain sections of road. It would feel like the tires were out of balance or out of round on certain road sections. Hit a different section of concrete and it would stop. never happened on pavement. New grooves on concrete, OK ... old grooves horrible. My friends '05 Tundra with +1 tires is just fine on the same sections of road. So, long story short sometimes I think the road and tires are fighting each other. I'm not trying to take away from those that have real issues with drive line problems but sometimes they might be weird combinations and it might be on roads/tires that are your DD which makes it a nightmare. And sometimes it is a real issue with the vehicle and not the combos that I have experience with.

edit: FWIW sometimes on I25 in Colorado between Castle Rock and Denver you can see this effect on lots of trucks - the bed looks like it is hopping / jiggling up and down - again - lots of brands and mostly bigger trucks like the Tundra/Silverado/F150/Ram. I've never noticed the mid-smaller Tacos/Rangers/etc doing it. It could be a harmonic with the longer wheelbase too and not the tires or maybe both together. Just thinking out loud.

Ryan also has a Z-71 4x4, and lives in Denver. Its stock - he tows his 883 on a trailer to get it out of town, the parks and starts his rides. Says it's safer to walk the center line on I-25 than ride a motorcycle in Denver.

When he gets it above 45 and it's a bit cold outside, his truck "tries to shake his fillings out." So, pretty much 5 to 6 months out of the year.

Weird. I have to agree. Used to ride my Yamaha Super Tenere to work all the time but this summer traffic and construction was from hell - I would be dead if I had been hit on the bike that day.

Put down my $500 deposit on TRD OR DCLB today. Asked dealer about this, he showed me the screen that had the issue in it. Only affected trucks are sports, issue was a missing airbag sticker on passenger side visor

You mean the accelerator problem that was caused by people putting their foot on the accelerator and mashing it to the floor while screaming that the brakes weren't working and the car was accelerating uncontrollably?

Just for perspective, VW stopped selling most of their Diesels this morning because they were caught lying on their emissions numbers. Turns out VW was never emissions compliant since the last set of emissions standards, hence the reason why they never needed the handicap of the emissions systems everyone else was running. I hope the EPA nails them to the wall.

    AAAAAAAAAAAUGH!!!

So I just got off phone with my inventory manager, and learned why my build date has slipped again to the Thanksgiving time frame.

    Goddamn long bed tonneau cover.

SO, we're asking Toyota to remove the cover from the factory build (gonna revisit that shortly) and see if that improves the build date any. Damn shame that a build approved in August is still waiting on parts.
