I need opinions.....I just bought a 2015 Tacoma V6 with towing package. I have a tandem axle tilt bed car trailer and a 1973 Ford 2000 farm tractor with a bush hog attached. Would my tacoma handle that weight? I don't know exact weights of trailer or the tractor with an attachment added for that matter. I'm not towing it far but I'm still concerned....don't want to mess up my new truck.

thanks in advance to everyone that replies.

IIRC, a 2000 Ford is approximately 5200lbs without fluid in tires, etc,......A Bush Hog will be anywhere from 500 to 1000lbs depending on width, brand, etc..... A typical tandem car trailer will be 2000lbs + or -.

You'll be at the extreme high end of tow rating, if not well above it. I have a '74 3000 Ford (among others) and wouldn't even consider towing it behind my Tacoma. JMHO, and worth every cent of what it cost you!

the standard towing capacity is stated as 6400lbs. but then again, you see people pulling trailers and such that are obviously over their vehicle ratings all the time. Simple answer would be, sure it'll be fine if you don't drive like an idiot. The big issue would be is your your load going to push the truck instead of the truck pulling it? Pretty sure that is how the ratings are figured, not necessarily if it CAN pull heavier loads. The rear suspension will need some upgrading if you do this often. Hell, it needs one when it brand new without any towing/hauling

OK...I took a look at one of my manuals for X000 series Fords. The 2000 can weigh as little as 3770lbs, dry weight, no fluid in tires, etc.... Diesels will go somewhere north of 4100 dry weight. With fuel, oil, etc, figure (at a minimum) another 300lbs. My Bush Hog (brand) 6' medium duty mower is 990 lbs. Assume you have a light weight trailer just for argument sake. Lets say 1800lbs. You would still be well over towing rating on a Tacoma. I'd skip that load.

I have a '97 Z71 that I use to pull loads like the one in your post. I have towed with my Tacoma, but nothing like the load you are considering. I used the Z71 to pull a heavy trailer with a load over the limit for the truck once. I WILL NEVER DO THAT AGAIN. The lesson I learned was worth more than what it cost me to learn it. Seriously, just don't do it.

Ok thanks all for your help....don't want to take any chances so I will stick with the in-laws Tahoe to do the job.
