Im in the same boat as you are. You should call into your ordering dealer and make sure they mark the unit as an "ASAP" order. Once I get my build date from my order I will post it up and yours will probably be the same.
If you get yours before mine, I will be furious because I have calls into all my fleet contacts and they are going to expedite my shipping once its complete.

Its hard to say with a brand new model of vehicle.

We had a Rav4 on order that had a delivery window of 9/22 but came in on 7/20.

I still have calls into some of my Toyota Reps but if I had to estimate a time for the ordering after Sept 10 I would say we should see our vehicles around November/December. I would like to see it around October but it doesn't look like its going to happen.

Get the estimated delivery window in writing and when it doesn't come in try and request a loan car at their cost. May not work but its worth a shot.

If its just a sales guy, he will tell you what ever to get you to order the vehicle. I am pretty sure if he told you it was going to be a December/January delivery you wouldn't have ordered your vehicle.

There is also the small chance the dealer knows something we dont or my Toyota Reps dont and are able to get the vehicle in to you faster. What City/State are you in?

I think you guys need to hold on a second. The following is to the best of my knowledge: There is a difference between "ordering a truck" and taking one from allocation that is close to your needs, getting something added/changed and, having it directed to your dealer. For people that work for Toyota, they can order a truck, exactly what they want, get the reduced cost but, have to wait possibly several months.

For me, I contacted a dealer, told them what I want, they looked into the regional allocation, found that truck, then get it sent to them. I was told that after my deposit is received Toyota can often change the options on the truck. I was trying for a while to get the tonneau cover added. That seemed problematic and was possibly looking at having to wait for the next allocation. I decided I didn't want it so now "my" build date is Oct. 2nd.

Maybe people need to differentiate between really "ordering" a truck and simply reserving one that is already scheduled to be built.

    Again, AFAIK.

This is also correct. If they have a vehicle coming in already that matches your requirements, they could have just assigned that order to you and claimed it was a factory order for you but its something they have already ordered.

Currently there are no allocations or "pool" units for TRD models, only available for SR and SR5 models.

In my current situation, getting a vehicle out of the dealers inventory or that they have coming in wouldn't work. On all my orders I get the Hold back money, Advertisement money, and finance money off and the only way to get all of that off the invoice is to factory order it. Dealers right now wont give the vehicle for less all that money unless its an agreed fleet factory order

No "Emmediate" orders currently for Tacoma in your area. He may have just assigned one of his incoming vehicles to you. Hope he did, then he may be right for your delivery window of next week.

Is a pool unit one that is scheduled to be built but has no dealer destination?

It is possible for one dealer to redirect a truck from another dealership to their own correct? This has been mentioned to me a couple of dealers. One dealer I was working with prior to the one I am buying from showed me the allocations and mentioned this.

I worked with multiple dealer Fleet Sales and none of them knew anything. My build was 8/19 but had no update info on the sheet until it hit the border om 9/16. It then listed build date as of 9/16 with estimated delivery of 9/18. The VIN changed from a placeholder VIN to a real VIN. My Fleet Manager made multiple calls and emails to Corporate with no results. Dont blame your dealers when they are not getting any update info on the Allocations.

    JKS :)

I think if I totaled my truck I would have a serious look at a used FJ just for the shorter wheel base :anonymous:

No such thing. You might be getting it after a 12 hour layover at the port, which in your case I believe is still Houston. ALL vehicles go to port first, and the region does whatever all with them. Gulf States turns a certain amount into TSSs and Texas editions and what have you, unless they're already listed as "sold" or the dealer made a specific allocation arrangement.

Folks in San Antonio get their San Antonio-built trucks sent to them from Houston.
