Can I put these Wrangler 42/50/17's on my Taco with no rubbing or cutting? How much lift do I need?

I want to stay completely stock if I can...

Make sure you plasti dip the rims and they'll fit perfectly.

Ok but will that void my warranty? And can I expect better horse power and fuel economy?

Not only will it NOT void your warranty, but it'll decrease your insurance!! One thing I forgot to recommend is that you MUST have tow mirrors for these to fit. And always drive around with them extended. You've got to be able to see everyone's reactions around you once they realize they're driving in the presence of a god.

They will fit a stock truck with no rubbing or cutting, but you'll want to install d-rings on the front bed bolts first. That way you can strap all four down securely.

Warranty will not be affected, horsepower will not change, fuel mileage difference will be negligible, but if completely stock like you wanted to stay, you'll be bouncing off the rear bump stops with 4 of those.

Ok. I like this. I'm thinking I'll stop by an RV center and see if they have mirror extenders.

Considering using spacers to push the wheels out further too. Maybe like 3-4". I wonder if Bushwacker will custom make fender flares for me.

Would it be weird if I did all this on a PreRunner?

Ok so I need to order new D-Rings then.

I like the idea of bouncing. I'm planning to use this truck to jump over cars. Like monster trucks but with a Tacoma prerunner.

You will need to LOWER your Tacoma if you plan on using those tires. It will not fit under traffic lights unless you do. Do not concern yourself with rubbing. By the time you drive the truck a block or two down the street, the rubbing will take care of itself....provided you don't mind just a bit of tire smoke. This does NOT apply to 3rd gen Taco's though....because of the large grill opening.

Badgers, I don't need no stinking Badgers.
Yes you can, you will need two foot wheel spacers, you may get some rubbing. If you want to have no rubbing you will need the four foot wheel spacers. I don't think spider Trax makes them though.

No your warranty is still good. Moss Magnussen warranty act protects everything except your wheel bearing in this case.

You guys are awesome! Thanks for the help. I'm hoping to get this whole mod done for under $57,000. Is that possible? Not including the truck price. I paid $42k for the SR model because the sales guy said it was the fastest one. No tow package though cause he said that made them slow. That's why guys with boats and trailers get passed on the highway.

Saw a first gen out at rock therapy on 40/42's ish can't remember (alcohol induced memory loss) I think he had a spacer lift and slight trimming to the fender flares but he was pretty stock @rctoy

I never thought I'd see the day when I wanted a picture of it.....I was at that age when I lived for the moment without any regard for tomorrow......I bought a new 1984 regular cab, long bed SR5 4wd. Within a week of buying it, I put a Rancho 3-1/2" lift kit on it. Then 35" "Gateway Gumbo Mudders". Then a 3" body lift. Finally, I took the it to a frame and spring shop in Louisville where they re-arched the springs, added 2 leaves to the front springs and 3 more to the rear. All the lift manipulation ended up being a total of 9"'s over stock. That led to a set of 40" Gumbo Mudders. A strong wind would have knocked it over sideways! The little 22R had it's work cut out for it! I had to re-gear....Don't recall the exact ratio, but it seems like it was something like a 5.13 to 1. It also had a chrome double loop roll bar in the bed, 4 KC Daylighters on that, a Warn 6500lb winch, and an alcohol fueled lunatic at the wheel. It was badd azz back in the day! Brakes were a little sketchy in a panic stop.....

All you need is a cab mount chop....no lift needed. Just remember, it's all about the tires and wheel offset. The grooves on that tire's tread pattern should self-clear any other inner fender obstruction.
