I have the SOS bolt on sliders as well. They are completely bolt-on, no drilling whatsoever and they do not come primed when he has to ship them. If you are local enough to go to his shop I've seen the he'll prime them for you and help with the install.

I'm not local. So how would I paint them take them to a body shop or do it myself. Do they work as step bars to. That's more what I would use them for they just cooler than any nerf bars I have seen. Also I live in the Midwest I wonder how long they would hold up with our winters and salted roads.

I recommend you have them powder coated with what your intended usage. They'll hold up a lot longer that way in the salt belt.

Some guys get them rhino lined, those hold up pretty well, but have a rough texture.
I painted mine knowing it's going to need some maintenance every so often. I used 3 layers of etching primer, 3 layers of rustolem bed liner, and top coated with 3 coats of semi-gloss black.

Like some of the others have said, these are shipped bare steel. I did a once over by hand with a fine grit sand paper, then a few coats of Rust-oleum primer and few coats of Rust-oleum matte black, letting each coat dry in-between. I ordered the direct bolt-ons, and while just about everyone has no issues, I did have to do light modification on my 2015 DLCB (chalking that up to my perpetual bad luck). There was one hole on each slider that was about a half inch off. Drilled out where it should have been and got them mounted fine, just an extra step in the process. All in all, I am very happy with them. Very tempted to order his rear armored bumper to match...

Just picked up a 2012 TRD OR with a 6 speed manual. Paint matched camper is on order. I'll follow up with a picture of that, but here's what I have so far. It traveled from Wyoming to Indiana just for me. :bananadance:
