i am trying to fix up my 97 tacoma. i got it a year back and the tranny has never been all that good. also have fixed the tcase. last week i picked up a 95 tacoma. its in very rough shape, the engine has a bad knock but the tranny is in fantastic shape. i read on here that the the w58 fits onto the 3rz-fe with a swap of bell housings, which it did but the tcase doesnt fit. would it be possible to take the front and rear differentials and fit them onto the 97? or will they not line up right? im trying not to go broke with a $3000 rebuild of the transmission

Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
4WD and 2WD transmissions have small differences but everything else is interchangeable. If your parts truck has a V6 then the bell housing will be different. If it has the 4 cylinder it should bolt right up.

everything is mirrored. tcase comes out to the right not the left and so on. everything is oposite between the 22re and the 3rz-fe from intake and exhaust sides to the actual layout inside of the transmissions. ive had them apart praying that i could use the tail end of the w59 on the main housing of the w58 because all the synchro mesh in both my w59s are shot and the w58 runs like a top. i guess my current question is will the front end of the 95 tacoma fit the frame and layout of the 97 tacoma. it seems like my least expensive option right now seeing as i have all the parts in triplicate. i can get 2 parts 4 runners from the same year for another 400$ if i need anything else

22RE was never in the Tacoma, but there was 2 different 4 cylinders.

1994 was the last year you could get one, that was in the old Toyota Pickup platform. Post a picture of the truck. Someone may have put one in there but I don't see why they'd go through all that work to swap in an engine with less power myself.

In '95 Toyota was still making the pickup and the first year of the Tacoma! If your parts truck is a Tacoma everything should be interchangeable. If its the pickup you're screwed....
