As stated before, a Tundra is easier. What does our Tacoma make stock, 235? It's torque that gets the truck moving, not HP.

Especially since you can't get a TRD supercharger for it

that too.. a 3rd part manufacturer will releases one I'm sure. when?.. who knows.. but still.. the torque curve has changed on the 3.5.. that would be more suitable on a car..

Gadget and I were on the phone for a good hour yesterday talking shop and my upcoming mods. Basically he says they will start with the UCON on the 16's as soon as they can, no idea on S/C's yet.

My situation on my 05 is pretty one of a kind. It's a professionally used non-daily driver, overland style, pop-up camper with a bunch of solar. So I am about to have my blower re-built since it is at 110K and then do major upgrades to the whole powertrain. I am adding a 7th injector, replacing my MacECU 3 with a UCON EMS, URD spec headers and Y-pipe. I am also adding a higher output alternator, higher duty cycle IC coolant pump and possibly new bearings on idler pulleys.

I would love to get 350HP at the crank but I will take as much as I can safely. I had a IC pump go out a few years ago and ran it hard with no idea I had no coolant in my IC. Long story short I blew a head gasket so when I had it replaced, I put in ARP head studs, upgraded fuel pump.

I am at 165K on the motor and want to get another 160K out of it, so safe upgrades to make sure it always gets enough fuel are key.

What's with the juvenile response? I think that ECU mods, headers and exhaust is a better place to start than looking for an S/C solution for any truck. Personally I am not at all interested in the 3rd gen because I have close to 60K in my truck / overland unit as it is, makes more sense for me to maintain it than replace it.

d1977 I have a 07 Tundra with a 12" bulletproof lift and 4.88 in the rear. i love the truck and i love the power but i want to have a long travel by this summer. I have 2 routes I'm trying to decide on going. Option 1 sell the lift on the tundra and spend a lot more out of pocket for a LT or #2 sell the Tundra, buy a second gen 4x4 tacoma and put a LT on that. the second option would be less money out of pocket (money from selling the tundra) but it sounds like you would've rather built a tundra?

if you want it for the power I guess..

Taco is smaller, lighter, and great for that application. they are still quick for trucks.. plus.. idk how it works with the tundra, but with Drop Bracket lifts for the taco, the crossmember is cut out. to go from a DB lift to anything else, that corssmember needs to be welded back in.

sorry for the late response, I had given up on putting money into my Tacoma...lol
I have put everything short of a ucon into my truck....Im maybe pushing 300 hp. Its quite sad, although, what can you expect in a v6 to start...
Cold air intake, new catback exhaust, y pipe,2.85 pulley, s/c, fuel pump, headers.

    Tundra, supercharged....now were talking power.
    But, a huggggge truck....too big !!

Maybe pushing 300? You have dynos? Should be at that easily. I love the power from my truck.

some people are just asking for too much it seems.
