Try the air filled "doughnut" to replace the cone. It does the same think (keeps the dog away from the stiches) and is more comfortable for the dog...and the owner.

Thank you! He's a terrier mix. not sure what all he's mixed with, but his mother has some shi Tzu in her. the rescue foundation we got him from has a cooperation with a shelter in Puerto Rico. so while he came to us in great health, with all of the procedures taken care of, we have no way to trace what exactly he is.

    Thanks :)

I have 2 of those Hi Viz vests, one a Remington like yours and another from a different manufacture. And other dog vests for chest protection, skid plates, etc. damn the dogs have more vests than I do come to think of it! Running a dog in the woods during hunting season is a smart idea IMO. Even if I am also hunting. Just like driving- it is the other guy I am worried about.... Nice picture.

Do you ever worry about your dog getting a branch or something jammed into his eye when running around through the woods?

Dogs, especially the retrievers are pretty good at avoiding the pitfalls of the wood. Although my Lab already had to get stitched up after being lanced by a palmetto bush.

I take my dogs to the our cabin and they are new to the woods. The black lab does really good but the pit/akita mix tends to run really fast and has come back with some jabs on his face. I got him doggles but he won't keep them on when he runs.

Yes. Mine is a female black Lab. She amazes me how fast she runs in the woods. Yes it is a concern.

One can never have too many light bars.

Mine sleeps the same way. I think its his way of reminding me that I had his manhood cut off.

Seed heads in the eye mostly, sticks in the chest really worry me in the woods. After coming out of the field or woods I put them on the tailgate and check them head to tail including the eyes. I use a squirt bottle with clean water if there is some debris in the eyes. I have put a stick (tree branch) in MY eye once at O'dark thirty on the way into the woods. Not fun. Never had a dog do that, sometimes I think they are smarter than us....

LOL. Nah both my guys sleep on their back and are intact. Well the oldest was until he was 11 anyhow. Some breeds like Tollers are back sleepers at least one theory is that it has something to do with their spine. But even as a puppy slept on his back when I could finally wear his little arse out[IMG]

Damn if I took that picture today with all his junk hanging out I would have to label it NSFW
