I saw an XRU that there's a kit you can buy from level 10 and just do it yourself. It looks like the kit comes with a couple of new springs and a couple of drillbits to drill out your orifices.

You wouldn't use level 10 or you wouldn't use the kit? From what I've read the main problem that people had with level 10 was their customer service and things like that. So I don't know why it would be an issue to just use their kit and do it yourself. Am I missing something?

From what I'm seeing, the kit is about 200 bucks and will just take a couple of hours. To me that sounds a whole lot better than 600 bucks and not having my truck for 10+ days

FWIW, I pulled my VB myself (1st gen). First time ever being in a transmission. It wasn't difficult and didn't require special skills/tools. Requires proper planning and preparation.

Do: Get the FSM to know where the bolts go back. For the 1st gen, three different length bolts that installed with no rhyme or reason
Do: Take pictures as you disassemble
Do: Wear goggles or face shield; I took mine off when it got smeared with fluid. Trans fluid makes a great eye lubricant btw
    Do: Buy a new strainer
Do: Have a big container to catch all fluid. I used a plastic "under the bed" storage tupperwear box
Do: Have plenty of gloves, rags, towels, etc...
    Do: Have a creeper
Do: Have engine assembly grease on hand (thicker the better)
Do: Watch the IPT "How to" on youtube!

Don't: Use an impact to install bolts
    Don't: Over torque anything
    Don't: Panic

    this..

I'm referring to the stories I've seen posted regarding lvl 10 and their product. numerous tuner forums have complained of blown tranny's, issues, etc.. on Eclipse, Supra, and other forums.

Never dealt with Lvl 10 but I wish I did mine through IPT. Dave is very knowledgeable and each of his projects are custom tuned to your specifications. He will ask you what kind of power you are looking to make, what kind of driving you are looking for, and how aggressive you want it to shift, etc...

How much does it even cost to ship a valve body?

How much did shipping cost you? And how long do you think it took total?

I didn't go with either IPT or Lvl10. Shipping was about $25 IIRC. Was down for a while because the guy was a fucktard. Talk to (I believe his name is Dave) at IPT and he will walk you through the entire process. Great service there.

Some guy from the Tundra Forums. Did a lot of Supra VB's which are very similar to the 1st gen VB's. I don't think he would do a 2nd gen and I wouldn't recommend him.
