Papal Visit to U S Cities

Just a heads up to all the cities being visited by the pope following Philadelphia:
I work in Philadelphia and the local magistrate is closing down the city a minimal of 4 days maybe more. As a construction worker I do not have vacation, personal or sick days. I don't work I don't get paid. This is disgraceful, all for one person nothing more!
Hopefully the concurrent cities will not do this to their residents and workforce .

ummm, that sucks! the feds have a liberal leave or telework option. DC will be shut down for a couple days, but Philly....that's a whole different story. Had 6 tickets for the pope in hand.....until they were taken back from the church admin that is! lol

I feel your pain. I am a construction worker also and no work no pay. That's crap to inconvenience an entire city for a single irrelevant person.

It's not the entire city - just a large part of Center City. Unfortunately it's affecting lots of things in the region.
I personally work in the city daily and am planning to stay as far away as humanly possible during the event days.

 

Sucks OP but not hopeless. Sign up to be an Uber driver and make some money in your off time.

 

We've actually started cutting back staff, I work about 20-30 mins out side of center city in Bucks for two different 911 squads. They don't think there will be as much chaos as originally believed.

So far I've only been cut back 12 hours.. basically that means I get to come home (if even possible) Thursday night, vs going to work Thursday at 0545 and not coming home until Sunday at 1800.

None of this is going to benefit any one, for the squad to come out on the + side of things financially, we would have to do almost 75 + more calls per day, on top of our normal day to day averages.

 

I think people don't realize he is just another sinner like the rest of us.

 

My only hope for this is that the event happens safely. Some idiot radical trying something stupid would really suck.

 

My mom asked me to wear my vest. Even though I'm no (hopefully) where near the city.
I really hope the tin foils stay away from this entire event, DC, Philly and NY. We don't need any more issues then what we already have

 

If Papa was an irrelevant person it's doubtful the inconvenience would exist. right?

 

OK OK , maybe not as relevant in the US as Oprah , the Kardashians or Honey Boo Boo but I'd say he's a pretty prominent figure in the global society as a whole

 

photoshop? anyone? I'm thinking maybe an SAS truck, white? maybe a big pope emblem on the hood, and of course the pope standing in the back waving the awkward "royalty" wave.

 

Oprah lost her following when she supported Obama for prez. Serious.

 

Pope speaks spanish which means most of the US consider him irrelevant. His speaches will be mostly spanish.
