Well, it doesn't so much sound as bad as other systems on a V6. It is what it is. It's a V6 and that's what the exhaust sounds like - a v6.

The 1GR-FE engine has a 60-degree ‘V’ angle (doesn't it?). I just learned a lot about cylinder angles. Thanks for the post. That's something I hadn't even taken into consideration.

What I found most interesting was the info on the v6 engines that are "chopped" versions of the v8 they're related to. Specifically the reading on the odd firing order caused by that scenario sometimes.

Yup.... a chevy 4.3 v6 is simply a 5.7 with the second cylinders back on either side chopped out. And you are right 60* bank angle on the 1GR.. My statement was simply to say not a v6 with a super narrow bank angle (like the really good sounding VR6 out of the VW's) but a standard v6.... they all sound like crap, raspy shitty crap, no way around it.

I'll see if I have some time this weekend to append my video with footage from outside of the truck. I understand and can agree to a large part what you're describing relative to what some of the V6 engines sound like - some being better than others.

I will have to credit the Tacoma and this Dynomax setup with being pretty good compared to most.

i just hate the sound of a standard v6 exhaust note in general. Nothing really other than stock exhaust impresses me. Maybe i am just a bigot.

I don't think that at all. Communicating your opinion doesn't make you out to be a bigot. Don't worry about that. The advantage of a forum is access to information. You have offered up your thoughts and provided some tidbits of good data to follow up on.
