Did a little clearance test today on my new tires. Everything seemed to fit fine

Lowered it seeing if that helped but it didn't. It was up a little bit but not much. My truck is currently sitting at my house with its drum brake almost to the floor.

Id rather have the axle up too high than too low. You can always press up on the shock and compress it to get it to slide on. Grease the lower mount just a tiny bit

 

I might have to see what happens when I have the axle sitting up higher tomorrow after I get out of college. The guy that had these shocks got them from wheelers off-road and hopefully that will give good results tomorrow.

 

Btw I hope hammering the bushings in didn't damage the shock too much. But even at that level of force it still wouldn't move a centimeter.

It looks like most people use a torch. I might as well but I don't want to put too much heat to the sleeves since they seem kind of thin.

 

Nah probably not. Id use a C clamp and washer to suck it down if need though.

Wow your a miracle thinker. I never would of thought of that even though I was working on 1 side for 4 hours straight and in the pitch dark when putting the shock on.

 

The sleeve can take it. I used a small propane torch. The bushing's are petroleum base the will light on fire but require you to scrape the burnt left overs away to allow the unburnt portion to burn. Grab a beer and cosy of to it. It's not a fast job.

 

Yea the lower mount the C clamp works good because the mount pokes through so you can get the clamp perfectly square with it. Not so true with the upper mounts.

 

My friend was twisting the top while I was pushing inwards and that seemed to work well. Hopefully I will see some results tomorrow.

 

Thx. My bushings are completely shot so I don't have much choice.

 

I'm just replacong my lca's to avoid having to do that.. cost too much $ to have the mechanic do it and i dont have the tools at home for the job.

 

I wish someone sold a fabricated or beefed up LCA with ES bushings for mid travel guys.

 

I've been curious as to why not, seems like there would be demand. Maybe cost? Might as well go LT at that point?
